Hopefully the endless Koulibaly and Skriniar rumours have substance. More evidence that defensively we just aren't good enough, we're still that one immense centre back from solving that issue.
Number of goals conceded isn't actually that bad, it's just the lack of clean sheets (even though we've kept the most in the top 5 leagues, which is madness to be honest). So many games this season where a good defence wins us points, tonight again being the case.
Midfield and forward line is about squad depth, the starting 6 are the match for anyone. Adding a superstar like Sancho to the mix would obviously be fantastic still, but we do need a couple of squad players, hence the talk of the likes of King and Grealish are OK to me, better to have them to come in than Ighalo and Lingard.
But a worldie centre back is a main priority still.

Between this and the City decision this has been a pretty dreadful day.
At 9AM this morning CL qualification from the league looked near-certain. 13 hours later we're barely hanging on, albeit with it still just about in our hands.

On the bright side.
At the turn of the year I don’t think anyone would have believed that we would be joint 4th and a point behind 3rd with 3 games left(along with the easier run in)

I’m not saying buy Ake necessarily but did you see the block he made yesterday to keep it at 1-0? He injured himself in the process but it was indicative of what we need badly at the back.

It will be forgotten because of the goal but that save from Dave was top class.

Bet 365. To finish in Top 4:
Man Utd 1/4
Chelsea 1/4
Leicester 6/4
Wolves 11/1
Sheff Utd 100/1

My main concern is that it now almost certainly goes down to the final day, barring Leicester losing both of their next two games. We could have easily had it sewn up before we even played Leiecester. They may be in freefall but if they have a chance on the final day I'll fear them, they can still play very good incisive stuff at times and Vardy will be delighted to face our defence.

The only criticism I really have of Ole tonight is I’d leave Bruno on for the full game regardless. He didn’t play well but you always feel he’s capable of doing something.

As shit as Leicester have been I’m not sure I want to have to go there needing a result.

We looked jaded and sad to say, I saw the equalizer coming. Games coming thick and fast, we have to pick ourselves up, dust off and crack on v Palace. We can still do this!

It will be forgotten because of the goal but that save from Dave was top class. That's the problem. If he'd made a mistake leasing to goal he'd get hung. Not seen anybody really mention that save. One that arguably stopped us losing the game. I'm frustrated after that but luckily its not the end of the world. Still in our own hands. I still see Chelsea and Leicester dropping points aswell so we've used up our lifeline, can't afford anymore mistakes. Unfortunately that's what they are. The goals we're conceding are down to our own players switching off.

we need more rotation, which in-turn exposes the squad.
we are getting diminishing returns from the best player we have. Bruno needs a rest, and the other main players aren't far behind him.

A bit of positivity doesn't hurt. Tonight sucked but it's been on the cards a bit, we got away with it against Villa too, they started well and the pen call was dubious at best, that just fucked their confidence. Southampton with nothing to lose or play for didn't let that happen and just kept coming at us. We're still in a shit position for Manchester United, but a position everyone would have took back in December, 17 (18?) unbeaten, still in both cups, level 4th and with 3 winnable games to come, 3rd still very much on the cards.

Over an hour later and my rage has barely subsided. This has made me angrier than worse games earlier in the season. I think it’s because I believed, for the first time in a long time, that we could be better. And just as we get close to a decent (bare minimum) league finish for only the third time post-Fergie we throw it away. It angers me even more than before because we shouldn’t still be doing shit like this, not this time.

We were outplayed by Southampton tonight, red card or not. Their goal looked inevitable. We need a proper CF as Rashford and Martial are still too inconsistent for me. One of my biggest criticisms of Solskaer is his use of subs. Tonight was no exception.
