Now he has signed on the dotted line (and the announcement is official) i can state how satisfied i am with this signing.
Donny, when i have watched him, has always struck me as a Dutch version of Muller. not in position, obviously, but in temperament and impact on his team. He seemed to be the heartbeat of that Ajax team, especially in the last season. he has that dominant personality about him. a real leader.
we need those types in our club, Fernandes is clearly one and now we can add Donny to that list, provided he carries the aggression with him and imposes himself within the squad.
very very happy with this signing.

Ajax are such a brilliant club! Ajax is the epitome of a proper football club with history, class and European triumphs done the right way. Gawd I hope we don’t end up like them. I mean, they are still a well run football club and they try doing it the right way but they just can't compete in the absurd money driven climate that football is today. You can only do so much with homegrown talent that you eventually have to sell when they reach their peak. And they are still dominating domestically and reached one European Final and one Semi-Final in recent years. |
