In spite of me not giving a fuck...and in some ways it might make the gimps do something, I was watching Dan James being totally ineffectual and thinking that instead I could have been watching Sancho doing something brilliant...
I then just needed a gun and a clear shot at Ed...

Part of me thinks this was a reaction to the powers that be. But it’s still shit, That you’re alienating match going/watching fans with toss like this. Lindelof is a decent defender. He could go to Spain and boss it, but you do t see Phil Jones puss out of the challenge he did for their 3rd. Lots of questions need to be asked of a lot of players tomorrow in training. Transitions not fast enough, no movement up to as per, defence slow to engage the ball. All basic things you learn at under 5’s football. It’s mad, do we need an entire new back room staff as well as quality additions to the plying staff? Particularly fitness wise It's all about standards, there is no one in that club who sets the standard on the pitch. Players are spending there best years waiting for it happen instead of making it happen. I don't think the culture exists at the club to be successful, you know this is true when pundits use the words "on his day" to describe our players. Let's be honest, if Roy Keane, Ruud or Van Persie were looking for a club today, there's no way it's united. We have talent in attacking positions but it's being allowed to fail.

Particularly fitness wise I agree about victor I do think he’s a good defender, he reads the game well. However, At a certain point when coming up against a player that will look to go past you it’s not good enough to just contain and not get beat, that player can drag you so far to the goal that the same space you gave them in containment is all the space they need to get a shot off. You have to go in for a challenge. That’s the third goal in a nutshell. I’m no pro but as a defender I can speak from experience that sometimes, mentally for me, that’s the difference between feeling like I did my job v I could have done better and more.

Having time to reflect and not be quite as pissed off as last night,it struck me how lethargic we looked. This new season is almost like a continuation of the end of last season.

I’m not havin the excuse the team is tired. They’re professional footballers ffs. Wolves played more games than us last year and they have started fine.
Liverpool who play are a greater intensity, have played that way for 3 years are also fine.
It’s the clubs work to condition the players.
We just don’t have a way of playing it’s pathetic. No patterns of play. No system. No philosophy. It’s pure mid table shite

He was physically man handled at times by Palaces forwards. He needs to be fitter and stronger to begin with but on the whole hes way off the level required for a top defender. Players get in behind him too often and one on one, he normally gets done. Maguire was equally as bad. Why are we so lethargic in these kinds of games? Can we blame poor fitness or poor attitude. In my opinion we dont start games properly. If you start slow, its very hard to pick it up especially when your behind early.

In my opinion we dont start games properly. If you start slow, its very hard to pick it up especially when your behind early. I can’t think of a worse CB we’ve ever had in the air. He wins jack shit. That’s aside from his obvious weakness when someone is running at him. He likes it easy. They’re all going round calling him the fucking Iceman like he’s unflappable. Fella is permanently bricking it. He looks weak too. No size to him. I said last season, he had a fucking cheek having a go at Bruno. From the way Bruno was at Sporting, you’d think he could be the one to set the standard. That argument with Lindelof was a little window into that. Maguire is just as bad though really. The lack of pace is astonishing and fuck knows where the idea of him being good on the ball came from. He turns like a fucking double decker bus trying to escape a cul-de-sac and fuck knows where this idea of him being good on the ball came from. Neville was talking during the game about our partnerships down the years. Neither Maguire nor Lindelof is hard enough/dominant enough to be the gritty half of a partnership, but they’re also not good enough on the ball or quick enough to be the classy side of the partnership. If you look at Vidic and Rio, Vida was light years ahead of Maguire in terms of actual (not perceived) composure on the ball, and he was supposed to be the warrior of the two. Rio was also more than capable of winning a fucking header. In theory out of the current crop, even though he’s a mad cunt, you’d have Bailly and one other when he’s fit. But we can’t keep him fit and unfortunately he does make some horrific positional decisions. Wasting my time here though, we’re not buying anyone so I might as well move on with my life and accept what’s to come.

I still can’t understand how our scouts looked at Benfica and of the CBs there picked Lindelof over Ruben Diaz. He’s not as good on the ball but he’s at least a bit of a bastard when defending. I mentioned it at the time but Sevilla’s CBs were both very good in the Europa campaign. Good on the ball but tough in the tackle and good in the air. It’s no suprise that Kounde is supposedly in line for a move to City. There may be a shortage of outstanding CBs out there but there are some good ones. There really is no excuse for the collection of humps we’ve ended up with. And at great expense.

On hindsight , its bit surprising he was brought here with Jose's approval , he usually likes to have physically strong players in his team.

The level of the 2 CBs that Jose did sign, combined with the fact that he was crying out for us to sign Maguire, should put to rest the idea that he has a gift at selecting his defenders.
There’s only one player in our defense that I have some faith in, and that’s AWB. Problem is, he is one of the worst fullbacks in the league when it comes to attacking football. Can’t have it all I guess.

The way he was beaten in the air by Benteke for Palace’s first in their win at OT last season was one of the most pathetic attempts at an aerial duel I have ever seen.

Only thing missing from the game yesterday was the Benny Hill theme tune.
People making excuses and saying about fitness aswell. We've had the same time off as everybody and even had a game last weekend.
Fuck the excuses. That performance was pathetic irrespective of the starting XI. Its on the players and nobody else for this one. If people are using this as a stick to beat Ole with they can fuck off aswell. People mention James yet Greenwood did nothing when he came on either. Think its unfair to single out anybody because they were all shite.
The silver lining to it is maybe it'll force the board to...who am I kidding they won't do fuck all.

We haven’t had ‘the same time off as everybody’. We have literally had less time off than any other club in England. No debate, fact. I mean seriously.
