If we continue winning I don't give a shit about VdB's feelings tbh. Not sure why anyone cares as long as we are up there. This isn't a concern about van der Beek's feelings. Bruno is out on his feet and the manager doesn't seem to have any plan to give him a break. We went out and signed one of the most coveted young midfielders in Europe, or probably world football, for not an insignificant sum of money last summer and apparently with a big assist from a club favourite. It cannot be a surprise that some people are questioning what the point of that was if the player is going be limited to 3 minute cameos and the odd low priority cup game. This isn't really the thread for the discussion so sorry if it's derailing it, but 100% agree. It's not just that Bruno clearly and desperately needs a break either, but Ole's use of VDB as a sub has a real "fuck you" air about it. Maybe I'm wrong and there's no ill intention at all from Ole but I don't see how else he can expect it to look when VDB gets 3 or 4 minutes at the very end of a match. What, exactly, is he supposed to do in that time? If it's purely a time wasting exercise then fair enough that happens sometimes, but he's done it when we're losing as well. We need a goal so go on Donny, go and get one in the 300 seconds remaining. Seriously? I agree that there's players who get better by not playing, but Donny is a Dutch international who's played at the highest level with Ajax, and has clear ability. Not some hopeful kid ala Januzaj or Tosic. |

De Bruyne will likely miss the next three weeks with a hamstring injury too. City, likely, won’t miss a beat. Move Bernardo inside, play Mahrez and Foden. They’ll not be as devastating, but that’s still a solid set of attacking talent.

They’ve seen the instant impact one world class player can have, we’re top of the league, the Scouse are 6 points back, and City are losing their best player for a while. Reinforce now and push on toward actually winning this damn thing.

The likes of Aguero and Silva picked up the slack that year for them. Silva is gone and Aguero is winding down. |

Castles said yesterday that Inter have offered us Eriksen on loan for the rest of the season. Ole is keen but there is an issue with wages. I do enjoy listening to this. Thanks for the recommendation Stew. My only gripe with Castles, he never fails to mention, every week, that we are 6 points better off than we should be! |
