Why? Sentiment shouldn’t lower expectations. We’re treading water. We’ve conceded 12 goals in 4 games, 5 of them against Palace and Brighton having spent 130 million on 2 defenders. We shouldn’t need to break the bank every summer to look better than what we do. I dont often post much here, but have been reading for a few years. Dont you ever get tired of being negative? We won last night. No, everything is not rosy, but do you think constant negativity on a forum will change things? Yes, you want Ole gone. Yes, you are incensed at poor transfers. We get it. Hope your mood on the forum doesn't carry into your life, its not worth it  No I’m completely happy with my life thank you. I’m perfectly capable of separating the 2. 15 years of Glazers and the amount of slack they get from those associated with the club grinds my gears though. I have high expectations so shoot me for it. |

what I really liked about the second goal as good as the finish is, the quick passing with VDB and Bruno. quick 1 touch, 2 touch football. committing to the pass and punching them in with the right weight. VDB is an absolute terrific footballer. hes going to be top class and I just want him playing more

A win is a win and 3 points is what counts but I will reserve judgement on any real progress until after we have played PSG and Chelski.
Newcastle are an average at best team and they were there for the taking and they were very negative without being too tight at the back, even then they caused our defence problems. The game could have gone either way until around 5 mins before the end of normal time.
Maguire had a good game but he was allowed to do his own thing as the Newcastle attack never tested him or put him under real pressure. De Gea kept us in it with a few good saves but the final scoreline flattered us. Time will tell.

If VVD is truly gone for the season with Thiago already our for a few months as well then the league looks to be wide open. It’s a pity that the Glazers are in charge otherwise, January would be a prime opportunity to add another player with a Bruno type impact. |

There has never been any doubt about our ability to score goals especially under Ole. But Newcastle under Bruce are never going to seriously test our defensive solidarity. The real worry is that if teams are willing to have a proper go at us we crumble and unless Pogba is willing to do his defensive duties then Ole will have to be brave and select other midfielders to give our defence enough protection. We aren't as bad as the first three games of the season suggested but beating a poor Newcastle team doesn't make us a few players away from challenging for the title.
Agree the league is wide open and I am starting to really fancy Tottenham for the title. They seem best placed to benefit if Liverpool and Manchester City struggle this season.

Lovely goals and good win. Heads didn’t drop when we went a goal down. Hoping this gives them some confidence.
Once again I think having 2 proper centre mids help.
