Mental game, but great win.
I hate to compare United to those fuckers for anything, but there is a look of Liverpool in about 2016/17 or so about this side.
There are goals in the team, some great attacking players, but defensively awful. We give away so many opportunities and easy goals that a title charge just isn't realistic at the moment. Same as they were a few years back.
So, they went out and got VVD, Allison, and Fabinho. A new spine, GK, CB, DCM. And with those new signings they conceded 22 goals in 2018/19, the best in the league, and 33 last season, the best in the league.
I'm not suggesting Ole is the new Klopp or anything like that, just that once a clear problem area is identified and solved then look at the difference. The new two windows are massive for United. A real quality centre half and a top class deep midfielder are absolutely necessary above any other position. Yes RW is still an area we could do with someone in, but it's not as urgent as those two.
And if it costs 200M to get the right two players in then so be it. A club that wants to show they are genuine challengers again would spend the money to get the players they wanted in.
But anyway, just sit back and enjoy spanking Leeds again today all, what a wonderful day.

While that was a convincing win it’s clear we still need to do a lot, they had more possession and created too many chances, we desperately need a defensive coach. We just need defenders that can defend. The mistakes we make at the back aren't a result of poor coaching. They're a result of poor decision making a defensive coach is the first step to get those defenders singing from the same hymn sheet(every week our back 5 look like they’ve all played together for the first time ).

It also must be said that Ole got the tactics spot on today. Most of us (myself included) were bricking it after seeing the lineup but Ole saw them coming and ripped our bitterest rivals to pieces. Also, If someone had told you on the day the window shut that we’d be 5 points off top with a game in hand in late Dec, put 6 past Leeds and be topping our CL group going into the final match, you’d have been over the moon. Plenty of positives so far. Absolutely, Ole had it spot on today. Leeds have run the most distance in the league and we needed players with pace to match that. James ended up being a great selection.

Not ole bashing but how does everyone think the Leeds manager would get on in charge of Utd(working with better quality players)?

Not ole bashing but how does everyone think the Leeds manager would get on in charge of Utd(working with better quality players)? I like Bielsa, his style of football, his philosophy and all. He's a romantic but his teams are way too naive for today's football.

He's a romantic but his teams are way too naive for today's football. Defending is part of the game yet all the top coaches in the game dont give a shit about defending. Hes definetely a romantic and nieve but far from odd in the modern game. Defending nowadays consists entirely of a high press. There are no great defences in the game.

If only there was a cracking young centre-half with high level European league and Champions League experience, with a ridiculously reasonable buyout clause.....

Mid 2000's you had Porto winning the Champions League, Chelsea winning back to back titles, Greece winning the Euro's and Italy the World Cup, all based on being really solid defensively, give nothing away, look to restrict the opposition and take the one or two chances you manage to create yourself. Then came Spain and Barca and it was suddenly all about pure possession and boring the opposition to death. Now it's just insane pressing, as high as you can, high tempo 100mph stuff.

Last comment:
Dan James had a good game today. Took his goal well, worked hard and stretched that Leeds defence. Bodes well for how we’ll use Amad Diallo, and DJ’s performance adds an extra headache to Ole’s selections over the festive season

I don't rate James and don't think he'll ever be good enough for us. But in saying that I'm happy to have him around, he seems a bubbly, down to earth lad, works hard on the pitch, and doesn't strike me as someone who'll bitch and moan when not in the team. Not his fault though that he played so many minutes last season, and being used as he has done this season, with the odd rare start and mainly sitting on the bench, he could be a useful squad option.
