Respect to the Uruguayan players association for sticking a finger in the FA's eye. Fitting to start a Cavani thread, which he deserves anyway

Its there job to adapt to cultural norms here, not the other way round. No one thinks hes a racist because unlike Suarez, there was no intent to be a racist. So anything signed by him should be promptly placed in the bin.

So anything signed by him should be promptly placed in the bin. Agree with you on the bolded part, but just to play devils advocate a little, he's lived in the UK for 3 months or so. Was he/is he expected to absolutely know all the culture norms in a new country within that time span? Because that seems a little over the top, it's not like he's come from a very similar background (i.e. myself moving from the UK to Australia, two very similar countries), I'm sure there are a lot of differences between the UK and Uruguay. Does it not make more sense for the FA to have understood how new he is to the culture in the UK and explained why that post was wrong, with no punishment this time? And if he did it again, then he has no excuse and deserves to be punished accordingly. Just to be clear, I think he doesn't really have an excuse, he must have known from the Suarez thing not to say that, they play together for country so inconceivable that he didn't know about it and the fall out from it; he only has himself to blame for saying what he did. As I say, just playing devils advocate a bit, surely new arrivals to the country aren't expected to pick everything up from day one?

Its a fair point but hes spent most of his professional life in Europe. Maybe thats ignorant but I suspect its not a common greeting in French or Italian society. Id say he knew the sensitivities around the word but after such a big game he just forgot himself. Intent is always key in these issues for me, theres obviously no deliberate racism but I wont have this discrimination of culture argument. I dont think this statement does anything for Cavani, its just gonna linger like a bad smell in the rags all week.

It was wrong but it wasn’t malicious.
Clubs need to do more on educating the players they sign on cultural differences and what’s right/wrong in this country.
I think the FA had their hands tied in this instance if they didn’t ban him it would look like they’re giving Man United everything.
The games he got banned shouldn’t make too much of a difference. A league cup game he wasn’t available for. An FA cup game against championship side and 1 PL game. It could have been worse.

As long as "Seinfeld" isn't banned for Jewish jokes and Eddie Murphy's "Raw" is still on sale a Uruguayan bloke is allowed to call his mates names he used to call them before signing for United. Hardly "Mein Kampf" levels of offense

The FA can fuck off. They have no right to police what footballer say to their mates. They gave that cunt Terry 4 games for what he said to Anton Ferdinand, and they have the gall to adjudicate this as worthy of a 3 game suspension. Cunts the lot of them.

Now that guy's gonna come here and call this woke culture and say this is why he hates BLM. Seriously though, this is fucking stupid.

Eagle eyed members of RoM... has anybody spotted a training picture from today that shows Cavani training?
For very crucial FPL reasons
