Saw Donny's interview on Rio's show. He said he's played a deep-lying midfielder role before at Ajax. Something like Carrick. He's def not a destroyer, but can we not at least try him in that role? How much worse would he be than McFred / Matic? I'm clearly not a tactician but isn't a VDB, Pogba, and Fernandes midfield with Donny sitting deep (and arriving late into the box) at least worth a shot? Certainly against a team as bad and surrounded by toxicity as Newcastle. |

I think Donny and Scotty could be our strongest midfield this season if Ole insists on playing with a double pivot. Donny has good distribution and reads the game well. Scotty is good at getting stuck in and breaking up play. Both are athletic and can cover the ground. So together they could complement each other fairly well.

Shame this isn't live. Good old river will have to suffice. Expect them to have 11 behind the ball for 9/10 of the game. Hopefully see a few goals though, Ronnie to back a hat trick like last time  (Still feels a bit surreal saying his name in a match day thread for us again). |
