I’m wary of saying this but the shortlist of interim managers is actually pretty good.
We’ll still fuck it up no doubt.

Words being used like 'interviewed' brings a degree of comfort, rather than just being on a shortlist, it at least suggests we've spoken to them rather than scouting/monitoring/doing a Wan Bissaka

Has any club ever focused on hiring an interim manager instead of simply going for the person they wanted to be their full time manager? Rents a few years ago did it fairly regularly. Di Matteo would argue that if you get the right one and you can even win the CL.

Will the interim be allowed to bring in his own coaching staff? If not, it's bullshit.

Yeah there is a nice precedent at Chelsea with the Hiddink appointment. I wouldn't pay any attention to the Avram Grant and Di Matteo appointments because Chelsea at the time was a well oiled and well coached machine.
We are a fucking mess after 3 years of zero coaching from Ole and his back room of amateurs. So we 100% need an experienced coach who can come in and hit the ground running. Agree the shortlist seems quite reasonable.
Hopefully any interim manager will take the view that the squad isn't as bad as Ole has made it look and there are some very easy wins that will make them look very good and increase their employability when they look for something more permanent.

Chelsea did it many times quite successfully 2 CL finals and one win Avrim Grant and Di Matteo and they were shit They also used Gus Hiddink a couple of times and he did well for them. I actually don't mind the idea, because we need a decent coach urgently and we have a good team on paper that can be turned around quickly and we are through the CL group on top and we have a much easier run after Chelsea for a few months! It also gives them a chance to get it right for once, to be proactive and actually see who does well the rest of the season. I hope they are looking at some continuation of style too. There is no point bringing in a coach that spends the whole season pushing one style and then getting another one who is completely different. There has to be some plan of succession here ED right

Once that is nixed or overruled by the clowns running our club then we’ll be left with no viable options and back to the DNA model with Carrick as the interim. That is a scenario sadly that can very much happen.

Which makes sense, considering the names being thrown around.

Someone like Valverde is a decent manager and should be able to get a tune out of this squad.

This is the problem, how do you define success? I would set the bar high and tell them they can have it, if they win the CL 😁 I bet Conte is a suitable candidate now you bunch of dildos

Doesn't fill me with any degree of comfort, when you consider he's been involved with 4 full time managers which haven't worked.

Fonseca supposed to be the 5th candidate. I'm absolutely certain that any "interim" that comes in will be given assurances that the job is theirs if they do well. And by do well, I mean win the top 4 trophy.
