Rangnick spoke to Carrick for an hour to try and convince him to stay onboard, probably says a lot about Carrick's state of mind behind his decision to leave now.

really hope he does well and hes moved into the board full time and not just as a consultant.

with a bit of luck, now the glazers are actually in conversation with a proper football man they wont be bullshited by the likes of Woodward and co. and will start making some good decisions.

A little sad to see Carrick leave as he is intelligent and thoughtful and could have really developed under Rangnick. I think he will do just fine at a mid-table club but spending most of his coaching career working under Ole will make him very limited as a manager and put a lot of pressure on him to learn on the job. Under Rangnick he could have learned from one of the best in the game and taken that experience with him in his future career.

But on the plus side it means another coaching vacancy that Rangnick can fill with someone a lot more experienced and heaven knows this team needs intensive coaching.

And massive credit to Carrick for massively exceeding expectations with a draw at Chelsea and wins at Atlanta and Arsenal. We are only three points off top 4 and with a favourable fixture schedule ahead and we are going through to the knock out phase in the Champions League.

Good press conference and he talks very well. Plenty of good snippets but I specifically like this one;

It's been a long time since we've been able to consistently control a game, even against the lower teams.

I'm actually starting to get excited about football again.
