I wouldn't touch this club with a barge pole, why would any top coach come here? If he's smart, he'd stay well away from this mess. Hiring a potential sporting director, wait until he accumulates all the knowledge on the current squad and then don't give him the job he was hired to do because the players don't like him. That's Manchester United these days. I'm actually beginning to hate a lot of these players. Theres thousands of teams around the world that are absolute dogshit, but the fans don't hate the players because at least most of them graft and do try to at least get the basics right, listen to the manager etc. Ralf ain't the long term solution, but they've not listened to a fucking word he's said to them. Mightyez mentioned it earlier I think but if his agent is in anyway competent, he needs to get a very clear definition of his role in writing and the avenues he can explore when/if these are denied to him, particularly concerning transfers. Bayern and more recently City are talking about him as managers for their clubs so he needs to think carefully about his next move. We destroy managers so he must be aware that if it’s Utd behaving as they have for almost a decade, the reality is he’ll fail and his reputation will be in tatters. You’d have to hope if he comes in then he’ll have been given cast-iron guarantees. That's all wishful thinking on the contract side, Bayern and City are setup for success from nuts to neck, someone like Ten Hag can just walk in there and concentrate immediately on coaching. At this club, he'll have to reshape the whole squad over 2 or 3 windows. You'd have to be exceptional to succeed here, exceptional in a Jürgen Klopp kind of way. Some people are ambitious enough to take the job on but you'd need the kind of control or support from upstairs that is present in the other big clubs. I'm not saying the job is impossible but one man cannot do it alone. That's why I'm fucked off about the Ralf situation. If he's not in the loop about the next manager then he has no future and we are stuck with the dickheads we currently have running things. |
