Toothless performance. Ronaldo's beginning to look human, I think we can expect an underwhelming season from him. That pen might be the worst decision against us since Nani's red. Too soon on the Nani red. Still getting over that one. Fergie would have guided us to CL glory that year I just felt it.

Early days but some certain players really have had enough chances to show they simply aren’t good enough. Fred inconsistent, I’d be shocked if he got a new deal. Lindelof and Maguire simply not good enough! Elanga, yikes!! There is more to putting on this shirt than running. Ronaldo, it was always best for all him leaving in the summer, I am sure the quality is there albeit not to the same level but a younger player coming in would have worked for ETH and the team and Ron leaving would have worked well for Ron.

Can’t believe we lost to this lot.
Highlights our main problem, playing with possession. We are still unable to unlock teams. Manager still needs a lot more investment into the team. This is not enough.

Gash performance, but I'm not going to get too worried/upset about it.
The rotation was likely to ensure we can play our exact league line-up from recent games against Palace this weekend.
Some of the players last night have, because of the good form of our starting XI, not played much football recently so it was always going to be a little disjointed.
Win vs Palace, and we're 3rd in the league after 7 games, 3 points off the leaders (and 5 successive wins).
Would have liked to see Garnacho in stead of Elanga from the start, Elanga is not a United player.
Performances like this will ensure ETH thinks twice about Lindelof + Maguire, and Casemiro will be systematically integrated.
We can certainly (and may still) win this group!

We obviously didn't have the crystal ball to see what was about to happen and suddenly change to our strongest lineup. This match felt like a long drawn out falling arse over tit.
But I also think this was a clear indicator of where our priorities lay this season.

watched after work here in States. Its not like we aren't going to move on or don't have a chance to thump them on the away leg if needed. Basically a BS penalty decided it, yet CB with arm around Ronnie in box is good defending.
As an aside, ETH needs time but also a DoF to help identify the right players. ETH has brought in 2 who have definitely SAf mentality in Malacia and Martinez. I think Antony does, but too early. My local American Football team was crap for 18 years. New General Manager (DoF) and coach over last 4-5 years have gradually been selective, not just on physical skill and ability, but also mentality and fitting the locker room. Players they picked want to get better and work hard in the off season. Now that they are legitimate Super Bowl Contenders, star players and good players have come to the team in last 2 years. Even at times for reduced pay to be part of the ethos here. This is how SAF worked and we need to get back to that. Dare I say that is the real DNA of United. No one bigger than the team and you do whatever it takes to help the team. Our QB ran the ball a few times and took some big hits last night, but said my coaches asked me to do it and I will do whatever it takes to win. ETH is looking for those types of players and board needs to back him
PS condolences on the Queen.

I think it is going unrecognized how important Eriksen has been. Scotty is a lot better because he now has a lot more limited role and can focus on providing a bit of muscle in midfield and breaking up play. Bruno is benefiting because he is getting the ball from midfield because Eriksen can actually pass the ball. Eriksen is basically doing the role that Ten Hag wanted Frenkie for and it is a long time since we had a midfielder who can pull the strings. Scotty I think can be an adequate deputy for Casemiro but we are stuck if Eriksen gets injured/needs resting. Fred sucked in an advanced role and Donny doesn't seem to have a future at the club.
A bit disappointing how quickly people are writing off Ronaldo. He scored over 20 goals last season in a crap team. We have a decent team this year and I think once he re-integrates back into the squad and regains full match fitness then he has an important role to play this season. And unfair to judge him when the entire team looks disjointed and far below full strength. Also Rashford has been very good against Liverpool and Arsenal but lets see how he does against weaker teams that park the bus.

He's not doing an awful lot in general play to justify a starting place.

It all depends how you play though. Ronaldo doesnt offer much upfront on the counter and I think in big games he needs to be dropped but I think this game was perfect for him just that we couldnt take control of it. In a crowded box, Ronaldo is a predator and this is exactly where he will be dangerous.

I'm not saying he can't contribute and score goals but you can't expect him to play at his previous level for us. Who was saying Ronaldo is finished at 30?

Ronaldo doesn’t want to be here. His kid just died, his mrs probably wants to be closer to her family and not in dreary, drizzly Manchester. Who can blame them? But, I do think he’ll score goals and be a good influence until he can find somewhere that suits his CL needs.

We feed him chances and he will score a load.

Think a lot will depend on where we are in the league/ other comps as to whether he'll leave in Jan or not. Either his head or heart just doesn't seem to be in it atm. He's made it clear he doesn't want to he here and I have nothing against him for wanting that. Just hope between now and then he can adjust his game and bag a few and go out on a positive.
