the number of matches catching up with the team. the lack of quality in depth is a major hinderance.

Casemiro and eriksen coming back in soon will hopefully give the side a massive boost, cas will have had a nice rest as well ready for the final push

Brentford gave us a much needed night off they were poor, McT was half decent..for him anyway.

We knew going into this season that scoring goals will most likely be our biggest challenge, and surprise surprise, we are very poor in front of goal.
I think we’ll just barely make it 4th, but the lack of real striker in the entire squad is very clear.

We so need another goal scorer… Yep need goals from elsewhere big time, barcodes scored 5 tonight with their 2 strikers sharing 3, we’ve got rashford and that’s it, Bruno nowhere near the numbers when he first joined, Antony hasn’t scored a premier league goal in months and sancho contributes fuck all |

Poor but got the win.
The age old adage is that points is all that matters at the run in, but not really; you can't keep getting lucky and as we've seen recently, we're going to drop more and more points because we just can't play well for 90 minutes and put games to bed.
Setting myself up for the obvious fall here, but really hoping Martial can stay fit for the rest of the season. He's 10 times the player Weghorst is and much more the goal threat, with him back it takes the burden off Rashford's shoulders. But he'll prob be out for the next 8 weeks after a 20 minute run out.
As already mentioned, Cas coming back refreshed will be a massive boost, and Eriksen hopefully gets up and running straight away, the midfield is transformed with those two; not to mention Bruno can be rested/dropped with Eriksen in as 10 and Sabitzer or Fred alongside Cas (Fred has looked decent playing alongside him), so we'd actually have options.

💯 agree with Daz, a win’s, a win’s, a win.
Doesn’t matter that we may have scrabbled over the line,we used to do that quite a bit under SAF.
ETH MUST get a proven striker ,another DM, and a RFB if he can,and I’m sure he will!

We where decent for the first hour and should have been at least 2 goals up but our lack of top quality striking options nearly bit use on the arse again. Brentford are usually a half decent team and we kept the quiet for most of the game. Get case and eriksen back in the team and we will massively improve. We are still on course for that top 4 and a trophy target this season. |

Happy to be pragmatic from now until the end of the season, particularly in the league if it means getting 4th place. There is no point prioritizing 3rd.
We desperately needed to reverse the run of bad results in the league, and thankfully we were able to do that.
Going so deep into the FA + Europa competitions might just give us the time to get Eriksen back playing in some capacity, which could well be crucial.
Casemiro can't come back soon enough, hopefully we can beat Everton and take a bit of momentum into our game with Sevilla next week - massive first leg.

We are still relying on the same strike force Van Gaal used 7-8 years ago.
Defence isn’t our biggest issue now.
