With what just happened to his wife, that seems like a fitting result, a proper fergie time winner. And a fellow Scot He’s English . 😜

People on here, with straight faces, said Onana and Amrabat were going to transformative, and the latter was better than McTominay.
Both are utterly abject and rank up there, so far, with your Liam Millers, Prunier and Bebes.

McTominay is fine as a sub, you can appreciate that without thinking he justifies a starting position. It’s like forgetting all the games he’s invisible in after a couple of welcome goals.

I’m not saying he’s amazing, but there were lads on here gleefully wringing their hands at him going once Amrabat was a done deal. McTominay is streets ahead of him and it’s not even funny.

But how many times has Amrabat been played in his actual position?

And McT is not a defensive midfielder…

MCT is not a DM, Amrabat is. We needed a DM.
MCT as many have acknowledged can go elsewhere and shine simply because he will be given the freedom he wants to roam and get goals.

What is annoying for me is that McT could be a really decent player when deployed correctly… …but I am not sure where exactly that might be given his occasional amazing cameos…

He appears to be more effective in forward roles from what I have seen on occasion…

I think part of the reason we are struggling this season is that Erik is trying to change our style of play. Last season after the first two games he realized it was a lost cause and was a lot more pragmatic. But I still don't think we are ready to play from the back and press from the front.
Amrabat was a bit disappointing but most players need a little time to adapt. It is just our collective desperation that we've been hailing him as a saviour. But he's probably a better option than Casemiro as a CDM as if we want to play from the back we need a CDM comfortable in possession and that isn't Casemiro's forte and his sloppiness is costing us this season.
It is good we have players like Casemiro and Scotty who can bomb forward and get goals from midfield. A more direct style of play would be welcome because I don't think we are cut out to play possession based football. Combining playing directly and playing on the counter and trying to raise the tempo plays to our strengths. Slow build up play doesn't work for us because somewhere along the way some idiot will lose the ball cheaply and at best our attack breaks down and at worst it results in us conceding shortly after and that's been the story of our season so far.
But I think maybe we're reading a little bit into Scotty scoring 2 goals against a tired Brentford team in stoppage time. At best it indicates he could be a useful impact sub for us this season.

So now Scotty has two fastest goals to start EPL match and is this two fastest goals as a sub to win a match?! Last time I can remember two goals in Fergie time was against city w Owen but City scored one too. Only other was Barcelona 99. Maybe someone can correct the true record.
As I said before I don’t think he can start week in week out but he at least gives a shit about not losing. Can’t say that for most in the squad. Disappointed I wasn’t able to watch it.

I see my self imposed ban on starting matchday threads, and/or posting twitter team news, has paid instant dividends 😅
