Finding it really hard to back Ten Hag atm and I don't wanna go down the same route as the last few managers. But his interviews after the game fuck me off just as much as the football itself.
Actions speak louder than words.

Starting anyone at this club is a huge mistake.... absolute embarrassment today

I look at villa and they’re squad on paper, is it all that, absolutely not, well at least I don’t think so, yet they are flying! I really want to back Erik but he’s making it so difficult, emery has villa playing like gods! Sign of a good coach!? More a sign of players being able to play the way the manager wants to play. Emery would look just as bad as ETH over here.

Emery would look just as bad as ETH over here. I agree that ETH has huge problems with these players but he has made some real clangers in the transfer market. He signed a goalkeeper for 50m who can't catch the ball. Also, just play the same team he did in the Chelsea game. Scott McTominay is not a striker and midfield should not be sacrificed because Martial or Rashford can't score goals. Once we play a team with a plan, we get spanked. This teams inability to find the centre forward is also ridiculous. I don't think he can make a big decision either, it took him weeks to drop Rashford and Martial should be nowhere near the first team. Bruno Fernandes is another one.

ETH now saying the squad isn't good enough to be consistent and win two games a week (even against bottom half of the table opposition).
It really makes you wonder what Erik is bringing to the table. He has been here almost year and a half. His coaching does not seem to have improved the players and quite a few have even regressed. His signings have been terrible. The football we play is as bad as anything we've seen post-Fergie. The team is softer than ever and our most humiliating defeats have been under Erik.

This where he lost me tbh. if say 80% of his signings where improving the team but the incumbent dross was the problem then I’d say stick with him. I was hoping he’d change this club for the better but 18 months in and 400 million spent we are as bad if not worse than the day he started.

Hojlund, Antony, Mount, Martinez, Onana and Malacia are his signings. Casemiro was a classic this club signing along with Varane and the rest he has had to be creative with on loans or frees. Martinez, Mount, Casemiro, Malacia have been out for most of the season and Antony was out for 2 months. I would hazard a guess that Hojlund would not have been his first choice striker if he had the funds and if we were a serious club backing a good manager, we would have had a go at getting Kane or Osihmen. Or added a more experienced striker. He has had to use Martial which is beyond parody now There's a massive hype around homegrown players and youngsters at United that all of these managers have to deal with too. He hasn't really been allowed to clear out the dross and they have overpaid for inexperienced players or over the hill players. He's had a massive injury crisis too, so there's a lot going on. Having a fit Varane and Martinez with Shaw as LB, with last years or just fit Casemiro or Mount and Mainoo in front of them (injured in pre-season) would have been his plan. I guess nobody saw the fall off in Rashfords form even to his average and even Antony has regressed probably because of personal shit. I always though this first half would be a mare, but the forwards are the worst thing about they shouldn't be this bad. I would give him to the end of the season and judge him on the second half when the injuries have cleared up by Jan.

I have posted about UnitedPeoplesTV before as it's quite a good channel and he's broke down the stats from Saturday. Apparently there were a grand total of zero passes between Amrabat and McTominay! Our midfield pairing! McTominay disappearing again.
EDIT: Oh and Maguire and McTominay completed half the passes of Amrabat and Shaw. Onana made zero passes to Maguire.

He has to play McTominay up in front of the ball because we have the worst forward line in the PL. Potential and raw talent is not enough. The front 5 of Rashford, Garnacho, Martial, Hojlund and Antony have 3 goals between and 1 pen? I think that's right. I think there are 2 assists in there too. That's almost unbelievable for a team that has a responsibility to compete in the PL and CL If we had forwards that could manage just an average of 12 goals and 6 assists, which is actually below average for a front three after 16 games mostly against bottom half teams, then we would have at a very conservative estimate 6 more points and be in a title challenge, even with all the injuries to our midfield and back we've had so far. If he plays Amrabat and Mainoo with McT getting forward as a 10/Bruno out, this might actually give us balance and some cover against the dippers. You are correct though McT is a terrible central mid and if you look at the midfield of McT and Amrabat, with McT lack of ability and the fact that he has to be in front of the ball, then our defence in midfield is always exposed.

I think everyone can see that this season the team does not have the right balance.
We need a double pivot in midfield. Any two of Amrabat/Mainoo/Casemiro would probably work. If we want to play Scotty for his goals then play him as a number 10. And play Bruno on the right because he cannot do any worse than Antony and at least out wide it matters less if he drifts out of the game. All season whoever has played as a CDM whether it is Casemiro, Amrabat, Eriksen, Mainoo has been left exposed. A double pivot would give us a solid base and it will work better than McFred because Amrabat, Mainoo and Casemiro are all good on the ball. Garnacho should continue to play out wide because he at least tries to make things happen and can provide some service. And if we cannot sign a striker in January then Rashford should be our backup number 9 as he plays better when he is the focal point of our attack and he isn't a winger.

You can't call that tactics either. Any coach worth a damn could work that out pretty quickly. The shape is all wrong and once teams get beyond McTominay, it's 50/50 in terms of scoring.

It’s getting coverage elsewhere but when we think about Hojlund’s struggles to score we need to remember the moment Dalot decided not to square the ball to him. A coach in an U15s park side would have subbed the offending player off as a lesson to the others. A full international does it with zero consequences.
Pathetic.

IDK if it's the set up or what exactly but we wonder why Holland hasn't scored in the PL and it's exactly the reason. Every RB in the world would have squared that back to their STRIKER because strikers score goals thats what they do and he decides to rocket it into the side netting from a tight angle for whatever reason. It's incredably frustrating these players are trying to feed him more. When stale ass Martial was in they whipped crosses in often and he isn't a crossing striker....but the guy who is they barely attempt it.

He should have went through him for not squaring it. I know he's young but christ, you have to demand it also. Dalot never got his head up and in that scenario a top strikers would be screaming at Dalot to give them the ball.

He needed to run over to him and jump off in his ass about it.... completely unacceptable to for a RB to just be taking the scoring of goals in his own hands. It should be his at best 3rd choice when he comes into the box. I firmly believe AWB would have at least tried to feed Hojlund first. but this is the state of the club.
