Rashford not for sale according to Erik! Thant would be another poor decision Erik my friend, hopefully it’ll be taken out of his hands! He was hardly likely to say "Yes, I'm sick of him, he's out soon as we get a bid".

Yeah even if there was plans to sell him (which I doubt), he’s not going to reveal them in a presser with a quarter of the season remaining.

We don’t just need him that’s the problem. Our transfer strategy needs to be 100% smarter. We need another full back, midfielder, centre half and a forward. Mbappe means that doesn’t happen.

One mistake I hope we avoid this summer and every market going forward is buying rather than developing the talent we have. For example, you have Amad, why buy Antony for such a hefty fee?
Could we possibly make the same mistake this summer going in for Olise for £60 million? the transfer makes no real sense unless you are getting rid of Antony, Sancho and pellestri and you simply tell Rashford and Garnacho they are competing for the left side spot.
In regards to Sir Jim's comments, getting a Scholes would be great but I genuinely hope it's a DM we are after, Mainoo has levels to go and will control games, he will do alot more knowing he has a fully capable defensive minded partner next to him the way Scholes did with Keane.

seen some comments online from eriksen that he had a talk with ETH about not being happy currently with his situation and playing time. and that erik said that mainoo and the midfield are performing well right now, so he has to be patient. agree with ETH on that. i love eriksen but he is not the same player from 4-5 years ago. still has the vision but gets bypassed so easily. would be best for both eriksen and the club i reckon if he is allowed to leave this summer. makes room for a younger midfielder to develop and have for years to come.

Thing with Eriksen, not a single player in our squad plays that ball he gave Rashford to win it on Sunday at the death. We need to find someone who has that in him.

We don’t, correct, but we also should absolutely be sniffing around players like Mbappe if and when they become available, because sometimes, they will be the right player at the right time.

In our current state, why embarrass ourselves? Or worse, outbid the outrageous offer Madrid have given him. Drop him and Kane in This team and we still only win the odd league/F.A Cup

Would Southgate want Mbappe, anyway?

Jim has a point. We can blow our entire budget on a big name star to paper over the cracks. And it is better than spending big on expensive young flops like Sancho and Antony. But the ideal would be to flesh out our team with some promising youngsters so that alongside Mainoo, Martinez, Garnacho and Hojlund they can form part of a team that can challenge for trophies in the second half of this decade.
Assuming we stick with Erik we need a central defender comfortable playing from the back. We need a defensive midfield playmaker. We need another forward as competition/cover for Hojlund. Whether we need another winger depends on whether Amad is given some gametime between now and the end of the season and is able to impress. But I think a versatile forward who can play upfront and out wide seems a better way to go.

Exactly, I can't see that Mount is the replacement there either, even though when fit he has his strengths. There was a great recovery tackle by Mount at the edge of our box that led to an attack, but he doesn't have that kind of passing ability in his game. I think Ratcliff hinted at it in that podcast interview people are talking about, when he says we need a Paul Scholes type player. We really need a creative player in Midfield like that.

I think ultimately Chemical Jim is saying is United are looking to build the team for the future not just buy the big name for today. Blowing our wad on the likes of Mbappe doesn't help us do that. Which I can agree with, Mbappe in the last 3 yrs has threatened to leave PSG every year. We don't want or need a player at this club that has the tendency to do that every season no matter his talent as it just brings more instability to a already fragile team. We need players that want to be here and that believe in the project of getting United back to the top. No more paycheck babies suckling at the tit of the owners.

All the papers going with us going for Southgate. I hope it's just clickbait, but that would be unbearable! I can't stand Southgate and have no idea why that would even be a consideration( Even if he does manage to win the Euros)
