The club has been sabotaged by its owners' myopic greed.
How does that force Ten Hag to set teams up with six attacking players spread out across the pitch? In match after match after match...

Imagine having expectations even lower than the Glazers demanded. Urgh!

Reading that we are looking at making an offer to get Dougie Freedman in as Head of Recruitment under Ashworth...
Anyone know whether he is any good?

Well he signed Olise for £8m, Eze for £20m, Guehi for £18m, Doucoure for £18m. And they are all now attracting interest from big clubs and have price tags of around £50m+.
Of course it is very different recruiting for a stepping stone club and recruiting for a big club. But it does suggest he has a bit of an eye for talent and with FFP restrictions buying young cheap talent should start becoming part of our business.

They have literally just got their feet in the door and have already put in place something pretty impressive in terms of the structure. I couldn't believe how quickly they moved on Berrada and Ashworth, now this. There's no guarantees that alone will bring success, but it's a damn good sign of how they operate! We've all been hoping for top football people to be put in place including the CEO, but never thought it was possible under the Glazers alone. This is all great news

The first big measurement of change will be the Summer Transfer season, will they get rid of the useless baggage we've acquired over the last 5-6yrs, will they invest in talent that isn't at an overinflated cost, how they handle loanies coming back...specifically Greenwood, and how they handle ETH.

Handling ETH is going to be a big part of it. He has essentially been allowed to handpick players since he joined the club with no resistance from Murtough or Fletcher. Ashworth is going to roll up with a shortlist of players he wanted to sign for Newcastle. Freedman will have a similar shortlist. And then you have SJR with his reputed preference for British players. And ETH reportedly is demanding a veto.
And our funds will be fairly limited as we are unlikely to qualify for Champions League this season and player sales is always a challenge. Sancho hasn't made any kind of impact at Dortmund and is on crazy wages. Everyone knows Antony is crap and any interest will probably be loan + option to buy. Maguire won't budge. Scotty will probably stay. Martial will leave on a free. So the only sales likely to move the needle will be Greenwood and possibly AWB.
It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Another dumb decision of Erik's was letting Fred go and spending the proceeds on a loan fee for Amrabat. Fred had his limitations but he covered a lot of ground and that would have made both Casemiro and Mainoo's life a lot easier. And he often turned in big performances in big games and made a difference. Amrabat on the other hand has made virtually zero impact.

Don’t get me wrong, Amrabat has been utter shite, but the answer isn’t Fred. No issues getting rid of him at all, we had to start the clear out. Probably more annoyed at the amount of money blown on Mount than a loan deal for Amrabat. That could have got us a quality midfielder to keep.

Another year of Fred wouldn't have hurt especially as our remaining budget after blowing £100m on Mount and Onana only left enough for Amrabat. And as he had a year left on his contract we could have simply let him go on a free this summer. Of course the ideal would have been to sell both Fred and Scotty and gone for a superior alternative to Mount. Then again with Erik in charge of transfers we'd have probably ended up with another expensive flop on our hands.
Some talk that Ashworth is keen on Barella who he tried to sign for Newcastle. Of course he's better suited to playing in a midfield three which we cannot really do because Bruno has zero positional discipline. But it is the right kind of idea.

Yeah, surely the problem there is buying Onana and Mount though, not selling a shit player?

Massive job to be done this window is an understatement. But huge part of that will depend on the who is going to be the manager next season.
Also we are not going to build a team competing for the biggest trophies around Bruno and Rashford.

Agree with all of that, we should have tried to buy Barella. We sold Fred, which I wasn't against, but got 14M and spent it on a loan deal for a clogger nowhere near the level was just bad. 45M was spent on Amad and Pellestri, 75M on Sancho, 85M on Antony( 205M plus large wages) and we're going to get 30% back if we sell for any of them and way less than Greenwood is worth. All more or less in the same position too.. Total shit show!

Honestly can't see Erik going, sacking Erik now may come across as knee jerk, i think Jim will give him another year but it'll be to work with the players his team decide to buy and not who Erik wants, but if Erik doesn't like those conditions then i'm sure Jim will say you know where the door is.....

Amrabat on the other hand has made virtually zero impact. He made an impact for City a few days ago...
