Fuck sake. First 30 were dreadful, neither of those centre backs can pass, but after that genuinely think we were better. Created far more chances. Kept Haaland quiet. Great goal by Garnacho. Just had to hold on. Then we threw it away again on pens, so frustrating!
Rashford looked as bad as ever. Miscontrolling, some poor passes, and his big miss. He came off straight after our goal and looked like he wanted to cry as everyone celebrated around him. Thought Mount was anonymous, still not sure what he is bringing to us.
There were some good positives. Garnacho looked great, Amad looked good too when he ran at them. Bruno looked good and central to most of our best stuff. Collyer looked good when he came on. But once again we just can’t fucking finish!
City fans were fucking silent outside of their goal and pens, never seen an opposition so quiet.

Shame. Deserved to win that but Ten Hag shouldn’t have put Pellestri at RB. He’s tried his best but he’s not a defender. This was a terrible call. We just needed to hold on for a few minutes instead let it slip near instantly. It’s only a friendly but it was such a poor call. Surely Amas could have been in the squad and done 15 minutes? |

Shame we lost but could have been a couple of goals up if not for soke horrendous finishing. Rashford is gone I think, not sure with the talent we had coming on where his place will be.
Fulham will be a different game though, at home, we'll need to push, will be interesting to see if ETH keeps the same tactics

Who was left on the pitch who didn’t take a pen? It doesn’t matter like cos it’s a nothing game in many respects, but surely there was someone who should be fancying a pen ahead of Evans.
Anyway, thought we did alright in the game. Certainly better than them. Whatever. Positive signs there already, two more transfers all but done and you can see we need them. Get a midfielder in now.

I thought Pellistri contributed more as a full back than he's ever managed as a winger! I also think that Wan Bissaka would have been beaten to the ball in exactly the same way.

Thought that was his best game for us in quite some time. Strong defensively. Cut out a few of their balls which impressed me. Passing varied, sometimes very crisp but a few sloppy ones. Main downside was he was running in treacle - a couple of times Doku got the better of Dalot and you’d expect the CDM to cover but he simply couldn’t get near him. So not near his worst, but still enough to have me firmly believe CDM was and is our #1 need. |

Also worth remembering is that Casemiro won't usually have both Mainoo and Mount providing legs around him. With Bruno in our midfield 3 we really need a mobile CDM to anchor our defence. Also City were far from full strength.

Best thing about Saturday was that Antony didn't get on the pitch. Hopefully that is a reality check for him and he's binned off before the end of the window.
Overall, it was a positive performance. Other than the first 30 mins or so where they had a lot of the ball, I thought we played some really good football at times.
Amad, Bruno, Garnacho all good.
Casemiro is still a worry in the middle, we desperately need more legs and a new partner for Mainoo ASAP.
Rashford doing typical Rashford things. Shouldn't be too long before he's primarily on the bench.
