Our forward line is a little bit raw so you do have to make some allowances for that and no-one is expecting us to be top of the table or top of the goalscoring charts. But Bruno and Rashford are both proven goal-scorers and Erik isn't getting the best out of them. And you can't say that our forward line is equal 2nd worst in the league as with 5 goals the only club who has scored less than us is Southampton on 4 goals and Crystal Palace are tied on 5 goals. The forward line doesn't seem to be clicking but that is partly on the manager. Even when Hojlund was fully fit last season he wasn't getting much service and the same was true against Aston Villa. Bruno is declining and Rashford has been inconsistent his whole career. Counting on them for our goals is a recipe for failure.

Erik signed off on fat new contracts for both of them.
I do agree that we need a top striker to compete with Hojlund and a top winger that is the finished article to complement the raw potential of Garnacho and Amad.
But would you trust Erik to get the best out of those players? Or even select them ? And therefore is it work giving Erik a pass for the whole season and wait until next summer to see what he can do with a revamped attack ?

I'm okay with replacing him.

The club gave Sir Marcus that giant contract.

You could add prim Ruud to this team, and he wouldn't score goals, because we don't create enough chances.

It is a combination of both I think. Our goal conversion rate is only 4.1% which compares to the top teams that are all over 10%. But if you look at total shots on goal we're also mediocre and well behind the top teams.
And that pretty much stacks up with what we're seeing on the pitch. Players like Amad and Garnacho don't have much of an end product. Bruno is having a bad season and 1 assist and 0 goals in 7 Premier League games is woeful really. Rashford is showing signs of a revival but has yet to hit a purple patch. Zirzkee isn't a goal scorer. Hojlund is sorely missed.
Erik has basically said he trusts the players and things will eventually click.
And I think that is going to determine his fate. If Hojlund or Rashford can go on a goalscoring spree we will quickly climb the table. If they don't then our defence still isn't tight enough to grind out 1-0 wins.

On the subject of Bruno, he has played a ridiculous amount of games and is 30 now? Is he on a downward trajectory or just a blip? Hope it's temporary.

I'd like Bruno to go back to playing as a number 10. Under Erik his workload has increased considerably and I'd rather he focused on creating and scoring goals. That should also help with his longevity.
And yeah we gambled a bit offering him a big new contract just before he turned 30. At about the same age Real Madrid were happy to cash in on Varane and Casemiro rather than give them pay increases. Then again it was INEOS's first summer in charge of transfers and they probably didn't want the headache of trying to find a replacement for Bruno on top of all the other positions we were trying to strengthen.

Reports in Spain are saying that Garnacho wants out because he's fed of being rotated under Erik and has lost faith in Erik's ability to create a winning team.

I'm sure it's Madrid/Barca biased to drum up interest, but then again this wouldn't be far off from potential truth based on what we've seen.

If true then I've respect for him but if he's playing for a new deal, then Eminem can jog on.

This He’s a good young prospect and while he models himself on Ronaldo he’s miles off at this stage in his career.

Contract doesn't expire until summer 2028. If Ed was still running the show then yeah it would be a possibility but no way under INEOS. So he's probably just pissed because we're stuck midtable and he's still in and out of the team under Erik. Admittedly that is partly on him. But we are such a chaotic mess under Erik that it is going to be hard for players like Mainoo and Garnacho to progress and reach their full potential and both are showing signs of regressing this season.
