Erik needed to go, but if it wasn't for that penalty I'm not sure he would have, not before the next game. VAR is genuinely out here costing jobs and the PL/FA are blinded by their own incompetence. Anyone got Oliver’s address? Man deserves a nice thank you package. weird double edge sword, right? On one hand he ultimately made the decision that put the fork in ETH, on the other side that was one of the worst calls I've seen in a while which exposes his incompetence as a ref.

We lose a match that ultimately costs someone his job, granted it was bound to happen anyway, and Micheal Oliver goes unpunished. Ref's in the PL aren't being held accountable at all and it's costs teams money.

There’s absolutely no doubt that it’s worse now than it was before.
You’d debate decisions before and the officials were awful, but at least you’d acknowledge that the decisions were being made in a split-second. I always thought the English officials weren’t up to much, but acknowledged it can be a tricky job.
However now they’re making mistakes when they have the option to look at it fifty times.

Var needs fucking off completely along with goal line technology(the second I can live with). sometimes the decisions went for you sometimes against. That was part of the conversation that used to make football what it was. there is nothing worse than being in the stands and having to wait 5 minutes to celebrate a goal.

Disagree with the goal line tech. It’s factual and happens in an instant. They were basically just guessing at those decisions for decades.

Maybe. but as technology gets more advanced more and more decisions will be made automatically and the game may become just too clinical and sterile. A bit of controversy here and there is part of the entertainment.

Apparently the tech for near-instant offsides is coming soon. That, plus goalline, is plenty - get rid of VAR for the subjective penalty calls.

2 apologies already this season.
Bruno shouldn’t have been sent against spurs although can’t see it changing the result now this howler.
I do think Martinez was lucky at the weekend tho

It is swings and roundabouts. We've had some bad decisions against us but we've also had some favorable ones too.

It was more than Bruno’s and he was sent (albeit the wrong decision) but it could have changed the game. It as a silly challenge

I do think Martinez was lucky at the weekend tho Am I the only one who thinks a yellow was sufficient for Licha? I thought a yellow was fine. However he got away with a definite red for that turbo two-footed lunge against I think Palace. The instant offsides will be a big improvement on what we have now. The way the semi-automatic ones were implemented in International tournaments was considerably better than how we’ve been fucking about with them on these shores. The only thing I feel like was missing was something visual to show us the offside straight away. It was about ten minutes later in the Euros that they’d put the graphic up. Supporters want to be in the loop, at home and in the stadium.
