Yeah. There is no real value to having any kind of continuity because things have been mostly shit for the last 2 1/2 years under Erik.

Why do we care that the players like Ruud? We need them to get in line, not have a friendly face at work. I'd heard he was a fairly decent striker. You don't throw out experience.
Lmao who cares? Bring fat Ronaldo in then he’ll be a riot among the players. It’s really weird you want to force someone down a man’s throat because he was a good player once. That’s not how coaching works, that’s not how any job works.

We don’t know if his contract had a clause that a full payout was only valid as long as ETH was in post and if he was sacked or resigned he had a reduced pay off. even if not we’ve got to stop lumbering managers with our past(I.e. SAF turning up at carrington or on the team bus plus ole having ex players giving the current squad team talks). We are emulating Liverpool in the 90s with that boot room mentality(it didn’t work for them and it’s not worked for us). Ok so now because we have a new manager Sir Alex's opinions don't matter somehow?
No they don’t matter at all. They stopped mattering after he made Moyes manager.

No they don’t matter at all. They stopped mattering after he made Moyes manager. keeping ex playing staff and managers about the place rightly earned the club the tag of being stuck in the 90s - 00s. Its good that ratclffes top team have no previous connections with the club and don’t keep making the same mistake of every manager being the next Fergie and every youth player being the next gigs. The old way would definitely have seen Ruud appointed until at least the end of the season and another ex player probably hired as his assistant. A fresh perspective is exactly what this club needed which lead to us hiring one of the most sought after managers in football(and in a way his career with sporting is very similar to SAF at Aberdeen).

It’s also management 101, the new man in charge has to be allowed to do things his way especially when it comes to his own subordinates. Forcing him to hire someone is rank stupidity.

not as far as the playing squad is concerned and nor should it have been since 2013.

I have a good feeling about this guy and I don’t know why I do it to myself after so many shit years. He’s not even managed a game yet and I’m starting to believe! Why do I do it?

He's the first manager appointed by INEOS that will be backed from the start by a proper recruitment team.
He's also going to benefit from some exciting youngsters coming through the ranks as INEOS have really creamed off a lot of young 16 to 17 year old talent. Not to mention seeing Garnacho and Mainoo and Hojlund and Yoro mature. And he showed at Sporting that he is good at developing youth.
Sporting were a bit of a mess when he took over and he transformed them into the best team in Portugal.
My main concerns are:
1) Injuries - we don't have much quality in depth in our squad and it will be hard to play his system well if key players are missing. 2) Recruitment-INEOS are in full control of recruitment and while they recruit a lot more sensibly than their predecessors they will bring in players that the manager won't want. Zirzkee is a good example. Erik didn't want him and he wasn't the profile of player we needed but INEOS saw a decent young player available at a reasonable price and went ahead and bought him. 3) Tactics-Amorim has pretty much always played a 3-4-3. If he can't make it work with us either because of the players or it just doesn't work all the time in the Premier League can he adapt and come up with something different? Or like Erik will he just muddle through

He needs to stick to his system of 343 regardless of the players don't fit, and then come the summer boot out the players he doesn't need and buy the players required to make his tactics work, I used to think it was quite a defensive set up, but in the modern football with the full backs basically acting as rw the set up could really suit us, very very excited to see it all unfold, all we need to see by the end of this season is an identity on the pitch and that will be a great start.
