Very impressive regarding the new structure. Monday fire the current underperforming manager. Friday appoint one of Europe’s highest rated young managers. Let him say a proper goodbye to his old club over the next week and we give ruud a few games to either impress Ruben or get himself in the shop window for a new club. Would have preferred for Ruben to be at carrington Monday but it’s only 1 more week. Seeing Berrada sacked ETH Monday morning then boarded a flight that afternoon to sign Amorim.

Excellent. woody or Arnold would have put ruud in place until the end of the season while “a proper recruitment process was under way” which really means hope ruud does another ole and we can award him a 3 year contract around Easter even though he’s not earned his stripes yet.

I've said it a number of times, This new group hired by Chem Jim don't piss about. They are making plans then executing them and not "Monitoring FC" us to death anymore. Ruthless efficiency. Does this mean they will get it right, not all the time but they are making decisions then seeing it through. I can respect that.

First manager that is younger than me. Complicated feelings. There will come a point in time, when they're all younger than you

Like I said this guy has the right attitude. He is ambitious and disruptive and super confident and will love the challenge of restoring us to our former glories.
Only issue I can foresee is going to be transfers. He's head coach not manager and apparently has no veto over transfers. Understandably he is keen to bring in some of his former players such as Inacio, Diomande, Hjulmand, Gyokeres etc. INEOS probably have other ideas and continue to focus their funds on buying promising young teenagers with Chris Rigg the latest to be linked.
Amorim does have a good track record developing youngsters as Sporting are a selling club and when their players come to the attention of big teams they sell them and buy younger replacements.
But he also needs to be patient and understand that INEOS have a longer term timeframe and aren't going to spend big on established players to try to deliver instant success. He's used to winning everything in Portugal. The challenge here is to get us back to the top of the game and keep us there. And that is going to require building a team which takes time.

Good luck to him, I don't have any faith in these players to perform beyond the new manager bounce but let's see.

WOWWW some interesting comments in the latest interview with Ruben.
"I asked United if it could be at the end of the season. It was what I wanted. United said no. It was now or never. So I had to make a decision"
That is a pretty ballsy move by INEOS especially after being knocked back by Tuchel. But clearly much better as a whole if he takes over now so he can start working with the squad and identifying the gaps and helping INEOS plan the summer recruitment which is going to be vital.
He went on to say:
"This is exactly the context I wanted [United struggling] because I can do things my way."
So he is clearly very astute and already understands there will be a bit of a power struggle with INEOS and his trump card is we were an absolute mess when he took over so he will need to make changes if he is going to turn things around. Hopefully INEOS will understand that and try to work with him to support him in making those changes. As head coach tactics and team selections is entirely his remit. But he will also need some influence over transfers (even in absence of a formal veto) as we need to bring in the profile of players who can play the way he wants and have the right attitude.
But this guy is tough and smart and isn't going to hide behind excuses the way Erik latterly did and I also think he is ballsy enough that if INEOS interfere too much he will just walk away and that is a power play that will work in his favour.

Ruben saying Utd gave him 3 days to decide.
Either take it or leave it.
That’s how big clubs operate.

Another point is Ruben is the new regimes man.
No more fucking downing tools from this bunch because the manager and above are all now singing from the same hymn sheet and they are no longer looked upon as assets.
Ruben can make them train with the kids or loan them out to Rochdale.
Good times ahead.

Refuse to get my hopes up. This club is a million miles from Sporting. Just hope he's up for the job and gives us something to shout about.
