I get it, hard to get excited for the next manager when we've been through the next manager about 7x already since Fergie left. Don’t forget this is the first managerial appointment made by football minded people in 38 years who are at the game week in week out and not by a banker on behalf of those blood sucking leeches in Florida. It may or may not work out but I have more optimism due to the fact Ruben is working for people who actually know the game itself and not people who only care about how much the club can line their pockets. I think this is the biggest thing about this hiring. The Glazer Cunts and Woodard have nothing to do with it and a team specifically brought it to run FOOTBALL OPS has made the decisions to give ETH a chance to figure it out, he didn't so they showed him the door, and instead of chalking the season up, they did the work and went after the guy they wanted in Amorim. He wanted to see the year out and they told him now or never. We can nit pick about giving ETH a year extension then dumping him in Oct, but I'm trying to see it as "We are backing you and here is a contract along with players to show it now do something with it." and they needed to see something. 14th in the league and worse off than we were last year at this point wasn't. I believe they looked at both sides of the financial coin before making the contract extension decision.

He gained control in February and had brailsford have a root and branch assessment of the whole club(that takes time). he then hired his top team and 2 of them only started in July. July was 5 months ago and in that time we have had one decent transfer window and have just changed manager for one of the best up and coming coaches. plus the training ground upgrade and new stadium plans. they are doing fine.

Absolutely, I think they are building this project up as fast as they can while making thought out moves. Most just want results yesterday.

Yeah I think they are doing fine. The contract extension seemed unnecessary and they could have saved themselves several million if they'd just told Erik he's lucky to keep his job and he still has a year left on his original contract. But they correctly realized it was a sunk cost and didn't let it prevent them from taking swift action to replace Erik when it was clear things were getting worse not better.
I am also impressed that they honed in on the best managerial target who was potentially immediately available and gave him an ultimatum that it was now or never to seal the deal. That is ballsy. Especially when the Manchester United job has been something of a poisoned chalice and we're sitting midtable with a pretty crappy squad.

If your boss told you "your lucky to keep your job" would that instill confidence in you? I would be looking for another job because that wouldn't be a manger I'd want to work under. Granted I don't respond positively to threats.

What should they say? It's pretty weird to think you should be terrible at your job but your boss also shouldn't have the audacity to tell you.

If he can develop Gyokeres into a star I believe he can easily do it for Rasmus. He has all the physical attributes needed to succeed in this league. He was giving Fofana and Colwil a tough time. With a good coach he will come good imo.

I don't think Erik would have walked as it would have meant not getting a £10m payoff. And they wouldn't have had to be as blunt as I was suggesting. Simply pointing out he still had a year left on his original contract and that contract extension/new contract talks could be held at the end of the year once INEOS were sure we were heading in the right direction. Anyway paying an extra £10m to get rid of him will soon be forgotten if Amorim is the success I think he is going to be.

Amorim was good in the Sporting presser earlier, in the face of some interminably stupid questioning from English journos.

It was so disgustingly vile and arrogant.Actually ashamed to be British with arses like Cotterill existing.
