I've bought my season ticket and looking forward to the new season already but I do not believe we can win the title if I am honest, there is always hope but with Shev Ballack already tied up I think even if we spent 100 million we would still finish 2nd.
The money that Chelsea have spent over the past few years has taken them out of sight.

Not convinced they will be out of site, teams started to realise the Chavs can be beat last season and no matter who they bring in all the other clubs should be improving on their squads too and if we can get lucky with injuries (unlike last season) and a couple of quality signings ourselves with a good start.
WE WILL GIVE THE CHAVS A RUN FOR THEIR BILLIONS

I dont think there's really anything United can do to take the title off Chelsea....but they can lose it for themselves. SO many big egos, too many players. If Chelsea do go for 442, with Drogba and Shev up front, then it means Ballack and Essien are going to be dropped for every game! It wont take long, whether it's this season coming, or the one after, but the egos to cause problems.

I think that is an excellent point Scott I don't think we can get 90 odd points but it is possible Chelsea could lose it through changing their system and it failing to fire or via a few critical injuries to key players.

Problem being, the players they will probably first lose are Dogbreath n Essien, Two players I want to see starting for Chelsea every game next season if you get where Im coming from I dont think there's really anything United can do to take the title off Chelsea....but they can lose it for themselves. Don't write us off just yet, we are definitely going to sign some new players this summer and I fully expect them to be 'Manchester United class'. United thrive on being the under-dog and I believe we will be there or there abouts at the end of the season, with class like Rooney, Ronaldo, Ruud, Scholes, Rio, Nev, etc you would be stupid to doubt us.

Mourinho brought in a new ethic for winning the title. "Get your noses out infront early and from then on the title is yours to lose". They've had that mentality right from the off last season. Next season more than any of the past two, they could have a bad start. Bringing in Ballack and Shevshenko will inevetably boost their team but, at the start atleast they will struggle to gel. Lampard can't play with Gerrard, whats to say he will play with Ballack? And how often does a striker come to the premiership (nomatter how good) and start scoring goals. I think for once we'll get a better start and have that attitude of "it's ours to lose" and Chelsea could struggle being in the unusual position of plating catch up.

scott said it, united will only lose it for themseleves...i mean last season we got no points off blackburn, one of city, failed to beat sunderland at home, drew at home to spurs.....tahst the only reason we didnt come closer to chelsea last season, we lost it for oursleves, i mean next season will be closer, chelsea will pip us, but i reckon season after that will be uniteds time again.....

Chelsea's made some interesting signings but they may not perform well (ok, so I'm being optimistic), what we have to worry about is being consistent against everyone else. Last season we dropped points to clubs that we should have beaten (City? come on... #Wa# ) which is something we can't repeat next season. Chelsea isn't unbeatable, Boro gave them a loss too....

It’s already been said by a few, in that Its Chelsea’s to lose. I don’t think I could handle them taking a third title in a row. Our problem is we up our tempo for the bigger matches, yet we go out and seem to not care about the ‘little’ ones and then end up dropping points. If we start off flying next season and believe me it’ll take Chelsea some time to warm up and gel (as it did last season) and we mount a sizable lead, then it’s ours to lose. I just hope it’s extremely close next season.
And hopefully Chelsea won’t get lucky this time around (Crespo late winner at Wigan, all Lampards deflected goals, Drogbas miss controlled goal against Arsenal, etc)

As was previously stated. if we don't have the same problems with injuries then I can't imagine why we can't win the title...I don't want us to battle for second, let the gooners, scousers and rent boys do that, United need to regain the title and I am confident that we can do that this year. I think the players are well aware of the importance of treating every match as a vital one after seeing the results this year so they know what they have to do to bring the title back.

Lampard can't play with Gerrard, whats to say he will play with Ballack? Fantastic point, despite now clearly having two of the world's best attacking midfielders, it could be a case of 'too many cooks' for Mourinho's men. Playing Makelele with Lampard and Ballack will give them more stability as I'm sure he will do but neither Lampard or Ballack are really box-to-box players and they could, believe it or not, struggle in midfield against the likes of Blackburn, Bolton, etc. I don't feel that Ballack will stand up to the physicality of the Premiership in the way that could be required. He is world-class, no doubt, but English football is an entirely different kettle of fish and, in my eyes, is the benchmark for all great players. It offers less time on the ball and only the really great players e.g. Keano, will be able to find themselves a bit of space. That is the mark of a great player, Ballack still has to prove himself to many. Remember the talk about Veron when he came? I can see a similar scenario unfolding at Stamford Bridge. The 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 that Mourinho has used to great effect may become more difficult to execute this year with so many attack-minded players, their defence could be exposed more often and teams that have the ability to counter quickly could cause Chelski some problems this season. Here's hoping, at least.

I don't think Chelsea are going to run away with it. I think it will be a three way race between us, Liverpool and Chelsea, and hopefully it will go down to the last game. I can see Chelsea getting off to a bad start and then as Shevchenko starts to find form they will catch up. But I think these 3 teams could end up with above 90 points next season - it should be interesting.
