The problem i have is that with Carrick and Scholes in midfield who is going to tackle the opposition? Scholes is good at fouling people and Carrick doesn't strike me as the tackling type, it would be asking a lot of the defenders all the time with no midfielder doing a defensive duty.

Robbo and Keane really could do both jobs great attacking and hard bastard defending thats what we need again, not just a holding player...

Carrick can tackle, and he does for spurs, I also think he has the ability to develope into what we need in our midfield. I realise him and Scholes aren't the biggest and strongest of players, but who said size matters.

If it aint broke ..i cant think of two better players to be compared with if any player is half as talented as either mentioned that is brought in we cant go wrong.Dont you think that this is the style of Man Utd that we should be lloking for?

Keane And Robbo are two of my all time favourites, and actually I value Robbo even more than Keane as without him we would never have had the Keane that we got. However, I don't think there is anyone out there right now that can become the player that those were at the moment, and so expecting them to would be unfair and probably lead to disappointed. A future player that I can see turning into a player similar to the two is NIgel Reo Coker, but I don't see him signing for as for a couple of more years at least, if he is willing to leave London.

I agree with you Matkaman, we don't want a holding player like Makalele, but two all rounders in midfield, especially if we are going to be playing with 4 across the midfield.
Missy, i'm in complete agreement, size doesn't matter. ;D It's not his size but his style of play though for me. i just cannot see Carrick doing the job of covering both ends of the pitch. He has Davids at Spurs doing the dog work and getting stuck in and Jenas getting into the box, he's a player like Pirlo- you want him passing the ball as that's what he does best, leaving the running around and getting stuck in to others.
