So fianlly obi mikel gets "his" "wish" granted by the Russian Mafia/Chelsea/Incompetent Officals....
What everyone gets...
12M goes to Man Utd (6M now, 6M in a year) Lyn Oslo get 4M (2M now, 2M in a year) Chelsea get a little greedy bas*ard to warm the bench
So...WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS, HOW WILL THIS AFFECT US, IS HE REALLY WORTH THAT MUCH MONEY???

I know I wouldn't pay that much for him , but it's not really a problem anymore... It's been a lot of mess around who he is tranfering to now, and I must say I'm a bit tired of it..This case has been going on for over a year now, and finally it's out of the world.

Thing is, it's not technically £12mill. Our deal was WORTH £6mill, so I imagine we didnt pay anymore than £4mill... so it's it's more like £8-10 mill we've made. But still, I'm more than happy with that ;D

But still, I'm more than happy with that ;D I don't understand what you mean Scott. aken from the official site. Reds Agree £12m Mikel Fee With Chelsea Chelsea Football Club, Manchester United Football Club, FC Lyn Oslo and John Obi Mikel have reached a settlement to resolve the future of the player. Mikel's registration will be transferred from Lyn to Chelsea FC as soon as possible. Manchester United have also agreed to terminate their option agreement with Mikel. Under the terms of this agreement Chelsea will pay Manchester United £12million, half payable now and half in 12 months, and Lyn £4million, half payable now, and half payable in 12 months time. As a result of this settlement all claims in this matter, which Chelsea were never an official party to, are now withdrawn. The payments do not in any way imply the acceptance of any such claims and have been made solely so that Mikel can resume his career. Manchester United will support Chelsea in any work permit application if necessary. All parties have agreed that there will be no further comment on the settlement or any of the allegations or claims. Communications Department, 2 June 2006

When Mikel signed a contract with us, we gave Lyn x amount of money. There's been no talk of Lyn returning that money to us.

That doesn't make sense "IF" he was our player ie we paid Lyn for him why would Chelsea need to compensate Lyn???

It's not funny that Chelsea are shelling out £16m on a player, yeah they have unlimited funds but this guy was one of the answers to our midfield problems. He'll be worth more than £16m and in my eyes Chelsea are getting a bargain. The guy's a powerhouse, box-to-box and chips in with his fair share of goals. And, to think we were getting a bargain. We were paying under £5m for him.
Unfortunately, his agent had a hidden agenda and Chelsea got the Russian mafiosos in to as they say give him an 'offer you can't refuse'. Now, a player who could of been plying his trade at Old Trafford week-in/week-out will be sitting in the dug-out at Stamford Bridge getting 20 minutes if lucky.
Chelsea need to be dealt with by the regualting bodies: FIFA & the Premier League. It's an utter joke that they can get away with this sort of behaviour. If Manchester United were not in the position regarding personnel and finances they would of been in a position to refuse the £12m and take Chelsea to FIFA in a proper manner in which Chelsea could of been punished accordingly. Now, it seems though we will take our £12m and add it to our budget and Chelsea will take another of our scouted players and add it to their forever lengthening substitutes bench.
The £12m though will come in handy and push our transfer budget pre-sales of our own players to around £35-40m which is sufficient enough to sign atleast 3 top quality players which will enable us to launch an assault on European and domestic success next season.
P.S. I look forward to giving John Obi Mikel some grief when he is sitting in the dugout at Old Trafford, unfortunately though in my heart I'll know that he should be on the Old Trafford pitch in a red shirt.

if he urns out to be, like many beleive he will to be the best midfielder of his generation, and would therefore obtain a ridiclous value, I would regret on what we have missed out on, though for now I am more than happy with £12m for a kid, who isn't worth anywhere near that.... Damn I hope Ruud stays, we r gonna be needing him with Sheva in the premiership! I;m hoping the WC acts as a cooling period between players and manager, so that we may retain his services. Speculation serves however that our position has been strengthened following Shevas 31m price tag, and it apperas that we are expecting bids in the region of £15m.
I reckon he's worth more, but in terms of money, a £3m loss on a player who has given us soo much doesn't sound tooo bad does it?
