We are Manchester United, why should we have players liek darren fletcher? I like the guy, and at times i think he has a lot of potential, especially with his passing accuracy accross field, but he can be lazy and not strong enough. His all-round game simply is not good enough for me.

His main attribute is presence.. he just needs to master it properly as we've seen the effect it can have such as agaisnt Chelsea amoungst other teams should he try that extra bit harder.
I do think he has a future at United, mainly because he's Scottish and Scotlands best player, but certainly not a first team future, more of a Butt role as mentioned before.

Darren has potential. Hell, he has a lot of it. Buckets full. But unless the potential turns into actuall proven skills, and good regularly played football, it's worth shit all. If the lad wasn't Scottish, would he actually still be given as many chances as he has been?
No, he doesn't have a future at United. Because he is never going to turn into anything but an average player with potential.

fletcher has become the scapegoat of our season and if hed put in those performances as last season in a championship winning season we would be saying ' o hes one for the future' but hes became the scapegoat unfortunately and wsnt helped by all the pressure and by what keano said although it was what we were thinking!
however i dont belive fletcher does have a future at united for me he is the kind of player that has to start the match and nothing else he cannot be 'effective'(if i can use that word for fletch) unless hes on from the start and i get so annoyed when i see him come of up the bench to come on because in 30 mins or 20 mins he cannot make a difference and im afraid we have been lacking that 'difference' in the last 2/3 seasons that little something extra that sheringham or solskjaer that can conjure up something in 20 minutes and im afraid fletcher cannot fulfill that role hes more for protecting leads something that say bolton do and we are no bolton!

He has a future at united alright, though it's challenging to see quite how he manages it. Only Fergie knows why he persists with a player who looks out of his depth even amongst reserves we are willing to release from their contracts.

I think he will be at united for a few more years. Fletchers problem is that he is not outstanding going forward nor defensively so you end up with a player who is just ok. He is not going to win you games with a piece of magic and he is not gonna stop you from conceding a goal. You end up wishing that there was someone else playing instead of him who could do one of the two.

whatever you say about Darren, saying he cant pass is not one of them Schmeichel1 He can pass; it's just a pity that the recipients of his passing are usually the 10 fellas playing for the opposition.

fletcher is fine but there is no way he should be in our first team. he is not good enough for the quality of football we want to and should be producing.

He tries his hardest but hes not Man Utd class, maybe more Fulham, West Ham or Aston Villa class. I respect him as a person for what he has had to put up with this season and as a player for trying his hardest but Man U need a world class team and in all honesty Fletcher doesn't provide world class play.

He's an adequte squad player, who'll be happy to play a handful of games. There's nothing to gain by selling him, he's the new Phil Neville and he's miles better than kleberson, djemba and miller

He has a great future at United, will become a player in the mould of Butt & P.Neville and we need players like that who are willing to play anywhere for the club when we have injuries and suspensions and play their socks off...he does that, and I wish everybody would give him a chance and get off his back.
