This article is from the sun.. so believe what parts you like, i found it a tad funny though: ‘Exclusive’ from the Sun: Man Utd stars may be fitted with MICROCHIPS — so boss Sir Alex Ferguson can map their movements on the field. But the players are outraged because they fear Fergie will monitor where they go OFF the pitch — including shopping sprees and wild parties at clubs. Club coaches have already seen a demo of the system. And the idea has been discussed with players including Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney. Many objected straight away. A tiny device would be injected under the players’ skin — most likely by the arm near the tricep. Then satellites would plot exactly where they run during a game — like a mini version of Sat-Nav in cars. When the data is downloaded onto computers it will help Fergie fine-tune tactics and coaching. First-team coach Brian McClair said: "One or two players were not pleased as they thought the gaffer could locate them at any time — not that any of them would be somewhere they shouldn’t. It could also help him locate players who leave the ground before, during and after games." A United insider said the club was willing to try almost anything to make sure its millionaire stars perform to their peak. He added: "If this system means the players win the title, I’m sure they’ll be up for it." My fave part being: "One or two players were not pleased as they thought the gaffer could locate them at any time — not that any of them would be somewhere they shouldn’t."

Ha ha wtf? I remember Fergie tracking down Lee Sharpe. I met him in a pub a couple of years ago, and he said that Fergie used to send out minders to watch him. And Fergie used to call them all at 9pm on their home phone on Friday night, and if they didnt answer, they got bollocked lol.
So this story sounds about right...

Speaking of minders / spotters Fergie used to send Ned Kelly and a couple of his SAS boys on missions to watch potential signings. Fergie was interested in signing Chris Sutton and had Kelly and his boys watch him on nights out cos they heard rumours he was taking Cocaine and wanted to know if it was true b4 trying to sign him. I'm just not really sure just how much this would help, you wouldn't be able to see the opposition players.. although you could see how much ground they make up etc. Maybe if Fergie has a polite word to Jose and the rest they will let us see what their players are up to on the pitch when we come up against them.. and maybe off but sshhh

It's something all premiership managers have tested and want to use, the Sun will make an issue of Fergie because of his rep!

Will it really help that much? Also couldnt they make it so that it canbe removed after games etc? Its a bit of an invasion of privacy, for like Sven and hargreaves, they would be seen on the radar at 2am in the closet together.......the secrets out boys =D

#clap# I'm so sad i actually know the song by Styx. Child of 80's music that i am. Nothing sad about knowing music from the 80's....I grew up on it as well, although that might just mean that I'm sad too...hmm, ok never mind my attempt to console you.
