It's great news that Sparky II and Ole are back in training, add that to our signing of Larsson. All of a sudden we have a few more options in the attacking areas. Second string midfield and attack from Jan 1st, bar injury: Solskjaer - Park - Fletcher - Richardson
Larsson - Rossi Now I know that isn't the greatest we've had at United but it certaintly looks good if we can call on one or two of them when fatigue, injuries, suspensions, etc set in. And, there's still a possibility we could sign one or two in the window.

Of course we've had better second string players than that before, but still, we've had a lot worse too! Great news.

Update
Source: [Manchester Evening News]Ji-Sung's Christmas pressie to Sir AlexStuart MathiesonJI-SUNG Park has offered Manchester United a cracker of a Christmas present - an extra player for the most demanding part of the season. The Korean midfield ace is on course to return to the first-team squad just in time for the festive period of four games in nine days, giving manager Sir Alex Ferguson the option of resting Ryan Giggs, Cristiano Ronaldo or even both players. Park played 45 minutes for the reserves on Thursday night, his first football since suffering an ankle injury in Sepember. And Ferguson expressed his delight at the timing, saying: "Ji-sung had an excellent 45 minutes, which was enough for him. He is a great player to get back because his versatility and movement off the ball is something we will use over the Christmas period. "It gives me the option to rest our wider players Ryan and Cristiano in various games, because he can play both sides. Kieran Richardson had a good game as well; a full game that he probably needed." Alan Smith also played in that game, but his return is a little further off as he continues a special schedule of training. "Alan has made a slight improvement each week in the last three weeks and his reserve performance on Thursday was his best performance so far but he is still a bit short," said Sir Alex. "He will keep on doing the work he has been doing, and he is using his left foot far more than he did three weeks ago."

I take it everyone is now fit, probably not match fit but in training, although Evra missed today's game he isn't that seriously injured so it's great news for United on the injury front.

Brilliant new about Park. I rate him very highly. Altough I very much doubt he'll get in our first 11 with Giggsy and Ronaldo on the wings.. Park will be a great impact player though. He'll liven up our dull bench

ESPN: Park hands Sir Alex an early Christmas present
Sir Alex Ferguson has received the perfect early Christmas present with Park Ji-Sung ready to relaunch his Manchester United career.
The South Korea international has been absent for three months following ankle surgery, but he came through a 45-minute reserve team appearance last week.
And, although he was not considered for the win over Manchester City on Saturday, Park is certain to play some part in United's festive programme as Ferguson's men look to take full advantage of Chelsea's failure to beat Arsenal at Stamford Bridge yesterday.
'Park is a great player to get back,' said Ferguson. 'His versatility and movement off the ball is something we shall use over the Christmas period.
'He also gives us the option of resting our wider players in various games because he can play on both sides of the pitch.'
With Park joining Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the comeback trail, Giuseppe Rossi's loan period at Newcastle drawing to a close and Henrik Larsson due to link up with his new team-mates next Sunday for the start of a week's training before returning to begin his loan stint at Old Trafford in the new year, Ferguson suddenly has some attacking options.
Although the Scot has always claimed his squad was strong enough to sustain a title challenge, he admits the prospect of an injury to 12-goal striker Louis Saha or Wayne Rooney has filled him with dread.
'For six weeks or so, we have operated with my heart in my mouth, hoping nothing serious would befall Louis or Wayne,' he said.
'It was a situation that worried me - as I know it did our supporters.'
There is even more good news. In addition to the knowledge they will have at least a two-point advantage - and a game in hand - by the time they take on West Ham at Upton Park on Sunday, Alan Smith is now making good progress after stalling in his recovery from the horrific double leg fracture he suffered at Liverpool in February.
Smith appeared alongside Park for the reserves on Thursday, getting on the scoresheet for the first time since his Anfield injury.
'There has been a slight improvement in Alan each week over the last three,' confirmed Ferguson.
'He is still a bit short, so we will keep him on the work he is doing.
'He is now using his left foot much more than he did three weeks ago, which is good news.'

Giggs' form hasn't been the best lately, he could probably do with a rest at some point so Park might have a chance in there over Christmas, although Fergie is confident Giggs is coming back to form

You are right, even though Park might be say he's to come in by end of December, there is no telling the real extent of his recovery. Fergie knows the actual pressure that will be put on him and if he is ready to come. Giggsy will have to keep up his form till atleast mid January. Park, coming off injury, right into the premiership will take a few games to adjust.

No disrespect to Wigan or Reading, but surely those games at OT over the Xmas period would provide the ideal opportunity for him to get match practice in?
