Under the circumstances, we didn't really make the most of the game but 4-1 at Villa Park is always nice.
We have shown a lot of progress in our attacking combinations. Tevez and Rooney often linked well with little passes, such as the movement and passing that led to Tevez's chance and of course the second goal. Wonderful pass by Carlos, and Rooney did well to find space and finish with composure.
Must have be fun in the stands too, have heard a lot of the anti-England songs.
Anderson was largely useful, - kept possession movements going well. Brown, still, was useful in getting forward and giving us width. Nani is getting involved well, too. Giggs perhaps could stay wide a bit more, but this game was mostly controlled by United with the front partnership doing the damage. Love seeing Rooney and Tevez and Scholes have their little fun together.
At times our passing and movment was top class, especially in the first half but I still think we are seeing glimpses of this team's best. There were times where you could just enjoy the movement triangles and so on. Our overall pace and tempo was not nearly as high as we got last season, but at least now we can turn on the style and get the goals. A lot more to come from this team.
4-1 to the Champions...

What a great result. Off the back of the international break and going to a tough place with a good Villa team.
I thought Giggs started off the match terribly. He gave Gardner acres of space by not closing him down and putting pressure on him and thats how the first goal materialized. The defense adjusted to cover for Giggs' laziness and from there Villa never really bothered us again.
Rooneys goals were pretty simple but it was the runs he made that were the hard part. The fact that he kept running on the Nani cross when it should have easily been cut out by the Villa defense is a sign of the kind of player he is.
Im really liking this Anderson - Scholes partnership. We've scored 8 goals with those two in the mid!

Cheers. I could watch the Tevez pass to Rooney for a very long time indeed.

Was kinda worried about our defence before kick-off when Evra was controlling Rio's passes with his arse in the warm-up, he's hilarious to watch though, does something different every time Game was near perfect offensively ( aside from the penalty miss) but defensively Pique was getting caught for pace and the defending from corners was terrible That's pretty harsh on Pique. I don't remember him being done for pace at all. We should praise young players when they come into the 1st team and do well, not make erroneous comments about them. Constructive criticism! Or should we praise them until we get beaten by a better team due to minor mistakes? I was sitting perfectly in line with the United defensive line in the first half, Villa got a few corners and the course of play changed a few times because Pique was beaten on the outside and Gabby Agbonlahor kept rounding him. To be fair to Pique he's probably better off on Rio's side, covering the right and sweeping across the left, i've always said i can see him replacing Rio in time.. hopefully he stays long enough to get the chance

On several occasions he showed excellent pace to recover some dangerous situations for us. Don't forget that Agbonlahor is one the quickest players in the League. I don't think we should heap praise on youngsters just for the sake of it. I just think it's unjustified on this occasion to critize Pique for yesterdays performance. I mean Rio was caught asleep in the first half dwelling on the ball just outside the box which he lost yet nobody mentions this.

What a game.... Rooney and Tevez cant play togeather eh LOL They were awesome. saw a couple of stats Rooney's pass completion was 85% ( I think ) havind made over 50 passes. Tevez was 95% having made closer to 80 passes. They were fantastic. What movement.Give them a few more months to gel properly and this could be fuckin incredible. The attacking was incredible. Their goal shouldn't have been a goal. VDS was clearly fouled prior to the goal. Hell he was knocked backwards into the goal and then the guy who knocked him down then unsighted him in an offside position. No goal ! Clean sheet again I reckon.

I'm slowly starting to get my full confidence back in the team. I think it shook us all up during the first few weeks of the season when we couldn't brush aside average teams. It's wonderful to see us ploughing through, especially after going a goal behind.
Why has the press not mentioned what happened for the Villa goal? I find it incredible that no paper has even commented on it lol. It should have been disallowed on two counts.

i throught this would be a hard game because villa are now a very good team with o'neil in charge, i was a bit worried when i saw the team sheet because i throught we would have a defensive midfielder in instead of anderson someone like oshea or fletcher. i was starting to think that this was going to be one of those days but no thankfully. tevez pass was great to rooney for his second goal. also we didn't have ronaldo on , great result now im looking forward to kiev!!

Moore standing directly in front of VDS is surely active in play, and hence off-side.
Surely.
Ah well, four United goals later and we're the ones singing...

It was a good performance coming back from internationals, Pique i thought looked well, Anderson-Scholes partnership was positive too. I agree that their goal shouldn't have stood.. i mean Luke Moore rugby tackled vds into the net! If he was more like Dida lol he would have stayed down, and the foul would have been given. The sendings off were fair, carson could have been a yellow.. the waiting for Taylor may have disrupted Rooneys confidence? Another win though!!
