i've read this before too, but he's in a contract right now, or so ferguson said..... it'd be a shame to see ruud leave, but hell, we'd still have saha and he's proved himself quite worthy this year

Can't see this happening, but then you never know with United, I'm more shocked its Milan than the 'fact' Ruud is going. Hope its not the case, and he sorts his head out at the world cup. Plus who would replace him? Saha is ok in the prem, but in europe his form is less than impressive. All the big name strikers are at big clubs currently so are we going to waste the transfer budget so desperately needed to get 2 top class midfielders on yet another mid-rate striker?
20 goal a season strikers are easily picked up. Ruud is a 30 - 40 goal a season striker, there are not many of them around! Lets hope he comes back next year fired up and does the business! I for one don't want to see him leave, and certainly don't want to end signing another pile of toss like forlan!

i'm thinking it could be true this time. i don't have any other reason to believe that its true other than the way ruud has carried himself on the pitch recently. I agree with crilly though that i hope he gets his head sorted at the world cup bcuz i don't think we should sell him either. Lets just get a couple of midfielders ,bcuz i don't think we could find a quality striker.

Im getting increasingly worried that Ruud is going. Any red who I talk to seems pretty resigned to believing he will leave with the most likely destination being one of the Milan clubs. Its not good timing at all, after Keane's sudden departure in January and the general rebuilding of the team in the last 2/3 seasons, we need our established first teamers to come out fighting next season.
Players like Ruud, Neville, Giggs etc need to do what the likes of Cantona Robson Bruce did for them and be a major influence on the peripheral players looking to step up a level. There is some good potential for next season, but as has been mentioned a lot and quite rightly, we NEED two quality midfielders next season. A massive amount of pressure will be on these two men whoever they are and provided they do ever get signed, to get united back where they belong at the top. Its a huge ask for two players to come in and get the results at the first attempt - especially in central mid, its the most important position on the park! Hopefully Scholes will be back to assist in this area and if Fergie learns to be more tactfull with his rotations we will be able to bed them in nicely. ie. don't put the likes of Fletcher, O'shea, Richardson in midfield againt teams like Blackburn, Bolton, C I T E H etc. but against Charlton, Fulham, Villa its ok - the teams who traditionally don't put up a fight.
Next year the likes of Ronaldo, Park, Saha also need to step up another level and really make a claim for being in the team week in week out. The players who are in between squad status and first team have a major role to play next season, can't afford any more ups and downs in performance - need to be consistent.
In the past it would not have been such an issue to see a player nearing 30 leave, but on this occassion it would be a disater. The heart of the last League winning side has been ripped out and losing another of the experienced players can't be a good move.

Massive Ruud fan should always be in the starting line up,but the body language in the Boro game totally suggested he knows his on the way out, reminded me of Becks last Utd game just won the league but the look on his face you knew he would not be playing for Utd again......

Agreed, the body language was like 'i'm not interested'
I think the fact that Ruud didn't really put the effort in the FA Cup game at Anfield made Ferguson drop him and put Saha in the side.

He will definetly leave and Fergie will use the extra cash to get a few midfielders which we lacked this summer.
It would be a huge loss. He has been a vital player for us.

I though Ruud to Milan was common knowledge?

I just hope they use this to bring in some better players and a new striker cos imagine the fear it would strike into opponents hearts when they read a team sheet with no Van Nistelrooy but Saha, Richardson and Fletcher!
They'd be needing new underwear cos they'll have wet themselves laughing at how far united have fallen!
