I have a few concerns about this guy. Firstly, that he might step on Rooney's toes a bit. Both of them like to play wherever they want, and to have two players like that in one team may mess things up a bit. And secondly, that he might do a Veron.

He's not good enough. He can't run either.

He may not be a lot of things, but he is certainly one thing - BETTER THAN ANY OF THE CURRENT OPTIONS!
so I say bring him on!

have my concerns about this guy.he is no doubt absolute quality.but so was seba. he didnt cut it at barca , but was young + may have been overwhelmed , that could repeat itself at ot.he likes the team to play everything through him.at the speed we play this may not suit our style. as scott mentioned he plays in the same areas as rooney.but , this could be a good thing as it would release rooney to play on the shoulder a bit more and use his explosive pace to get on the end of his quality through balls.rem euro 2004 when rooney plays further forward there is no stopping him.a quality i think that we fail to utilise. he missed both games against us in c l with a knee injury.is this a recurring injury?

You make a valid point, but its a risk whoever we buy. Out of the options available he looks to be one of the more promising as far as Im concerned. Like the idea of pushing Rooney futher forward also

Forget Juan Román Riquelme, give me Lionel Andrés Messi anyday.

Riquelme did "CUT IT" at Barca he was only sold cos they signed Ronny Buck teeth.
Riq is one of the best footballers in the World at present
Of course he would be a good addition to Uniteds team

If we sign him we need a decent defensive midfielder to cover because he doesn't do much in the way of defending. No doubt he is quality going forward and techinally gifted but we need a team player as well. And he's 27 so there's not much chance of "teaching" him to track back etc. With Scholes back i'm worried Ferguson will play Riquelme on the wing where he played for Barcelona. But either way, he's quality and given the option i'd deffo take him.

True but if he does work he would be awesome, exactly the missing link in our midfield. Its been a long time since we had someone in there that pulled the strings. Still though like you said it would be a huge gamble.

he would need 2 good defensive midfielders around him because he does not do enough running! this would mean 4-5-1 and pushing rooney higher up the pitch! good player, but he will not fit in at OT! no thank you!!!

I wasn't really impressed by him in the Champions League games versus Arsenal..i have my doubts if he would really slot into the team.
