I've heard this rumour around for the past week or so, apparently Real Madrid pulled out of signing him, so it looks like he's off to United.

I think he's a good player from what i've seen of him playing for Lyon.
His distribution is first class and he's a very competitive player.
I saw him play versus AC Milan away and i thought he was excelent, he scored a good goal with a header, bravely putting his head in amongst flying boots.

He's pretty good on Football Manager, so he must be good. Even if it turns out to be just speculation, at least its positive speculation. I've only seen the player twice on tv; the game mentioned above and a league game on Eurosport, and in both he looked solid. £20 mill is a lot of money, but if he's as good as he's made out to be- 'better than Essien', 'best midfielder in French league', etc... then lets get him.

Let’s hope he’s as good as all these ass licking Lyon football representatives/etc say he is.

Hoping that price is in euros rather than pounds... We have all summer to negotiate for him... Mali not in the WC so his price will not go up, not likely to go down according to Lyon but its a possibility should another young DM have a good WC.. Better to wait a little for him maybe.

From Sky Sports:
"Manchester United, Internazionale and Real Madrid are loyal, they won't call me before May 15th.
"I think Real Madrid are not interested, they have director problems, so they don't have anybody at the club to talk about transfers for the moment.
"If Manchester United want to call me, it is easy to have my phone number.
"They are a loyal club, so they won't start negotiating before the official date.
"Clubs like this act officially, they follow the rules."
United's chances of landing Diarra could be boosted if they offer Ruud van Nistelrooy in a part exchange deal.
Van Nistelrooy looks set to be on his way out of Old Trafford after dropping down the pecking order in Ferguson's plans.
Lyon are thought to be in the market for a new striker and the French club's director of sport Bernard Lacombe has admitted they could be interested in a swap between Diarra and van Nistelrooy.
"It is sure Lyon are interested in Van Nistelrooy," Lacombe told the Daily Star.
"For the moment we have not officially negotiated with Manchester. It will be a complicated financial deal unless we can exchange one of our players they are interested in, like Diarra."

he would be a good signing and if we traded Ruud and money for Torres then i would sign Barton(5 - 7 million) that would add depth and with a new signing in scholes we would have good cover maybe Lenon to finish are signings off total cost
20 million Diarra 12-15 million + Ruud Torres 5 million Barton total 40 million which some reports say we have

I would swap Ruud for Diarra, having to pay mabye £5m. Then i'd be happy buying Robbie Keane. I think that would set us up nicely. Perhaps also buy an attacking midfielder to be back-up for Scholes, who will hopefully hit form again. As Liverpool and Chelsea have shown, you dont need a 25+ goal a season striker if you have a solid midfield

I'd swap Ruud for Diarra also, i think that's a good option to think about buying Robbie Keane.
Here in Ireland, i've seen a lot of Robbie Keane games for Spurs on our Sports Channel's and the guy's playing out of his skin this year, also the Tottenham fans are saying he's their player of the year.
I think the fact that Keane was given the Irish captaincy earlier this season has also given him an extra boost this year.
