Hmm sounds like a clever deal to me. Silvestre isn't needed by the cub, Fergie gave him the option to leave months ago. I can see that happening aswell, I rekon Silvestre knows he'd do well at Lyon!

And where did your mate get this news?
I would be happy to see the back of Silvestre. The only thing he has anymore is pace. And to be honest, he looks the missing link in our back four, bring back Gabby!
I haven’t seen much at all of this Diarra, so I can’t pass judgment. I saw the AC game, in which he scored big wow like but he could be the player we’re looking for. We’ll have to wait and see.

No idea where he got his info. but he's a big red and would only advise of such if deemed true.
I personally think Lyon have tabled a bid for Silvestre and they included Diarra in the deal #shakehead#

If that’s the case, then we won’t be paying as much as first presumed? It might not be a significant difference, but a price cut is a price cut and to offload Silvestre whilst we’re at it is only a bonus.
And if Ruud is sold, then we might just have enough money to buy another player after all.

'Malcolm Glazer, the American owner of Manchester United, has said that Roman Abramovich, his counterpart at Chelsea, will not be the only billionaire in the Premiership spending heavily in the transfer market this summer.
It is a year ago this week that the Glazer family took control of United and news that the £540 million debt with which they saddled the club after the takeover will not curtail Sir Alex Ferguson’s buying power should improve their relations with the fans.
Ferguson has identified Mahamadou Diarra, the Mali midfield player, as his principal target and will hope to have completed a deal with Lyons before the start of the World Cup finals.
“If Sir Alex wants a certain player then the Glazers would be willing to push whatever button required to get that player,” a spokesman for the family said. “The debt has no bearing on expenditure. There is cash and a portion of that can go towards transfer fees.”

I read somewhere that Lyon want Ruud, so they are ready for a swap deal with us for Diarra. As I think Ruud will go this summer (I really don't want him to), so it could be a good deal. Diarra + 10m will do. Last thing I want is to see Ruud playing for a Prem club next season. That will really hurt me.

Can't see him goin to another Prem club to be honest, we should get on Milans case and offer them Ruud + cash for Shevchenko and put it right up the chavs

Let's face it - this was a done deal in January. We didn't buy Evra to be third choice Left Back.
So what's next? Rio to somewhere? Although Brown's so injury prone, we need loads of cover for him and not just Vlad the Impaler
