Jus been talkin to a few m8s and they all reckon that we need 4or5 more players to really push for the title.
personally i only think we need one defensive minded midfielder, smith, scholes, fletch, giggsy and possibly jones are all good enough to be awesome alongside a disciplined midfielder.
we could use a winger and a striker (only if ruud goes) but these are not essential, i think with the addition of one shit hot midfielder we will have an ace team that will be much better than chelsea and that should definately bring the silverware back to where it belongs.
thoughts?

Two, if Ruud doesn't leave. And, thats 2 midfielders. My preference is Riquelmé and Diarra with Jones and Gibson given their shot at the first team.

i think riquelme would be a crap signing, watched him quite a few times this season and i just dont think he could cut it in the premiership, cud be even worse than veron.
if we are goin to get another midfielder would like to see nolan, think he could be class and wouldnt cost much either. think diarra would be exactly what we need jus hope we are not forced to pay a stoopid price for him tho.

I think we need 2 top signings plus 2 players to rotate/backup i nthe midfield as I can see one of these top signings being injured at somepoint. If Ruud goes then he will need replacing, or should be imo. See what happens though, I think getting 4 players for the midfield is me just being optimistic

If we do sign Diarra, it will mean him travelling to the African Cup of Nations annually which will call for Jones to be given his chance or another rotation signing to be brought in.

I think that we need at least two quality midfielders.

two CENTRAL midfielders. At least one of which will require undoubted world class, ie. someone who we all have heard of and admire. And in the disasterous event of Ruud leaving , we need someone to work a miracle and discover another striker capable of 150 goals in 200 games. Any player of a lesser ability will not be acceptable 'replacement' Lets hope its not neccessary.

Id like two new central midfielders. One attacking, one defensive. Wouldnt mind seeing a new keeper arrive but with Howard out on loan and no reports of a replacement, it look's like Fergie has faith in our youngsters! If we keep Ruud, get the midfield re-enforcements we need, then we can push for the title if we keep the same form we ended the season in

Absolutely - but not two from outside Prem. I'd like to see at least one who has done SOMETHING in England; I just wish we'd had a go for Parker - he can't be injured for ever can he?

Didnt Paul Scholes tip him to be his replacement for United? I think he did.. As for Parker, another good choice. His determination when he was at Charlton was excellent!

I like Nolan, another who Sven the dick chooses to ignore. Problem is he is a massive liverpool fan, so if he came he would have to match the professionalism shown by Alan Smith. I'm sure fergie could drill it into him. Worth the risk in my opinion, but would definately need a second more qualified player also. Someone around the age of 25 with at least two years Champs Lge experience. most will now probably suggest Diarra - i can't comment, never seen him play really so can't say do or don't buy him. But if we do and its going to be £18M or more - he better be worth it!

I'd be happy to see Nolan as well, he's only 23/24 and as you said Scholesy was scouting him....though he did have eye problems lol. I don't see why United have to buy foreign, there always seems to be this expectation that some foreigner with a fancy name is somehow better than anybody English that plays in the prem. Yes a lot of the world class players do play outside of the prem, but that doesn't mean we should automtically ignore up coming talent in the prem. As long as Nolan has somebody to battle for places for and learn from, he will go from strength to strength and probably be an england regular in a few years.

Ah ha! My continuious pro scott parker rhetoric on these boards if finally starting to pay off. Scott Parker would be a really good play for us and I really don't see why we wouldn't be in for Kevin Nolan he's a good player and is young enough. It's more that Big Sam has identified him as his most important player so he might not be going anywhere

Nolan wouldnt be there next season..

I agree with the initial point. As far as I'm concerned, we need 1 player, a defensive midfielder, to give us a first XI that matches/beats Chelsea. Problem is, there's no way we'll keep our starting XI fit for a whole season like they do.
But I dont think there are any English central midfielders who are good enough for United. They'd all cost at least £10 mill, and I dont think any of them are good enough.
