Firstly Gattuso, if he's not available Mascherano.. Unsure about Carrick as of yet but he's still young, great passer, not sure how much he would cost but certainly would be an improvement from what we have should he come. Riquelme for the prices being mentioned and our budget being mentioned would be well worth it.

I think we need a defensive mid before an attacking.
Gattuso is one of the best around and has said in the past he would love to play for United under SAF.
Get him bought!!

Gattuso is no footballer, he does a job at Milan and he's surrounded by quality but he's nothing more than a good Robbie Savage

exactly right! i thought initally gattuso would be superb because he fights like f*** and can just give the ball to the special players like ronaldo and rooney who can do his attacking but thats what keane was turning into towards the end although still brilliant we need a box to box midfielder we need a balance and need to spread the goals around, i think riquelme and reo coker would suit us brilliantly riquelme can take all free kicks and corners which are bar beckham the best in the world and reo coker is upcoming and would be a very good signing chips in with goals and plays with his heart on his sleeve

I'm surprised by the amount of the people who voted for Mascherano, I would have though Riquelme would be the most popular. However, I haven't actually seen him play. Is he an attacking or defensive player??

I think opposite. Although I would love Riquelmé's signing to OT, Mascherano for me because we are in need of a DM, and he is exactly what we need!

I think Riquelmé would do it for me because he is like Beckham, and he can set it up for our strikers.

mascherano - box to box.fantastic player.for those who have yet to see him play , the world cup will show him to be one of the best in the world.the argentine coach calls him "our most important player".thats exactly what we need if we are to truly compete next season.
riquelme - creative genius.everyone has seen the clips of this guy + watched him give england the runaround.while i have some doubts about his style suiting our system , the understanding he already has with mascherano should ease his transition.for the propossed 8 million , a bargain.
while i rate gattuso and would nt say no.he is more of a destroyer , while we need two cm`s that can dictate the flow of a game.
some of the others mentioned are good players , with potential , reo-coker for example.but we are Manchester United.we need great players.now.
i think with the above additions we could play rooney further forward utilising his explosive pace to get behind defenders and really terrorise them.while he has done well playing deep and his overall game has improved , i dont think we have been using him to his full potential.rem euro 2004 he played high up for england and was superb.
if we can make those two signings i will be really confident of winning the league next season.it will also send out the message that we can compete and surpass the chelsea`s in the transfer market.
i would also like to see d.jones , pique, l.martin + p.bardsley given more first team oppertuinitys next season rather than buying average or unproven plyers to bolster the squad.

Riquelme is the one which probably excites me the most.

I agree with you that Mascherano & Riquelmé would be great signings and they are the 2 I would love to see us sign for the middle of the park, but that quote there is the one that sticks out for me. I've been saying it for ages, just nice to see someone agree! #cheers#

riquelme is great and can create from all around the pitch, mascherano would be a great holding midfielder , so those 2 would be great
