I dunno, i jst cant see how we can afford them, 15 mill for Carrick? Were having our pants pulled down over that one, 10 mill max and hes a good buy but were being taken for a ride again, because Tottenham know ere desperate, id say buggar Carrick lets go someone they want instead and bid higher than them so they need the sale of Carrick, lowering his price

I do think that I would be happy with that list. We would be getting two relatively young players, and one slightly more experienced older head to sort of steady things and pass on some "european nous" to Carrick at the same time!
I am becoming more and more convinced that Torres we really should buy, as this would indicate to other prospective players that we do still have the drive and ambition to go for the very best footballers out there. This is critical when recruiting new players!

Carrick is over priced at 14 million and lacks European experience. I am concerned that he is not a regular England international and is even behind Owen Hargreaves in the pecking order. If United are to return to the very top we need proven quality international midfielders who have experience of World, European South American, or African competitive international and club football.
Living in France, I have seen much of Mahamadou Diarra and Zokora. Both of these are outstanding for club and country. They have mobility, read the game well, good in the tackle and move the ball well. Of the two, I would rate Zokora a better option as he would be cheaper - allowing us to move for a playmaker such as Riquelme.
From South America, Mascherano is outstanding as the midfield enforcer.
The fact that we press for Carrick is disturbing because of his comparative lack of ability to those mentioned and possible means we are not after these players.

The only way to get European experience is to play in Europe right?...Carrick would do well at United imo. Senna looks good, but at 29 I'm unsure he would be right for us!...
I'd love Torres at United and I hope we get him this summer.

Carrick is a very good central midfielder though and Fergie will surely sign a fierce, tackling midfielder also.

Yeh im changing my mind about Carrick, hell be signed along with another midfielder, hes young, English and united will give him more of a chance to prove himself that at Tottenham, where hes done a great job, so with better chances, he will be 'rated' better, theres only so much you can do at a lower club, hes behind Owen Hargreaves not down to ability but down to Sven bing caught doins something naughty by Owen and now Owen has it over him. Hell be with us for a while and you never know, people next seaso might be saying he was a bargain at 15 mill.....

We need a Gattuso or the like.... Diarra? not too sure about him as yet.
Riquelme - 10 mil, Carrick 12 mil & Torres 25 mil - A lot of money....
Riquelme could be another VERON, Carrick - again may be good - but he is not a ball winner, Torres - he will be very very good - not sure we need another young forward like him - but:
One option if we did go for Torres - what about Rooney as the ball winning midfielder? he has the legs and the vision like Keano? Smith in behind backing him up...
Just a thought....

Wasting his talent in midfield, I see where ya coming from but Rooney should not be a midfielder if you want his best out of him We need a Gattuso or the like.... If Rooney could become one of the world's best why would Fergie want to take that away from him as well as losing our major threat up front?!...it's stupid to think that would ever happen!
