Now that's a statement after my own heart.
Any other English people here who find it difficult to get behind the England team ?
It's not a concious thing - in fact I was a dedicated England fan up to, and through, Italia 90, but since then I just can't be arsed.
I think it's mainly the press hype and the whole Eng-er-land mentality, as well as the fact that my favourite United players have rarely been the English ones. That, and things like the treatment of Beckham after the Argentina game, and the anti-United chanting at England games.
So, anyway, if anyone else feels like me, do you have a team you follow in International football, or just the foreign United individual players ?
I've always had a real soft spot for Italy, not sure why - probably the passion of the supporters and players, and mainly because of that fantastic goal celebration by Tardelli in the 82 World Cup Final.

Lol well check the header of this board. "We all agree United are better than England".
As a kid, I loved England. I remember being close to tears on several occassions after us being knocked out of this, that and the other. I loved it when so many of the England starting XI were United players.
I think my feelings towards England have changed for a number of reasons. Yes, the way the fans tore apart David Beckham, the way they were talking about Rooney a few months back, and just generally because all the England fans hate United.
But not just that. There's a different mentality in the England players these days. Most of them play like they couldnt give a shit less. The whole of the midfield for example! I find it really hard to get behind players who dont think it's the biggest honour to be playing for their country. People can slag off Rooney all he likes for being a hot head, but he's practically the only player on that team who plays with any passion.
I'll still be supporting England in the World Cup, although part of me is looking forward to someone like Lampard or Gerrard screwing it up for us. We're not going to win it, so I hope it's somebody like that. Not that the press will crucify them like they would if it was a United player.
Dont get me wrong though, I'm still there at Old Trafford chanting "ARGENTINA! ARGENTINA!" to fuck off the away support ;D
