One thing in today's football that really annoys me is the booking of players for celebrating a goal, why? It's an absolutely crazy law from FIFA/UEFA , which takes the gloss off scoring a goal! A player scores a goal in the last minute, say-happens to take his shirt off and go mental, and it's a yellow card! What's a player supposed to do? walk camly back to the centre circle? That law is madness!

One mustn't cause offence in today's world- celebrating a goal enthusiastically is perceived as causing offence to the opposition's fans.

I totally agree mate, rubbish rules. Although rumor has it they’re looking in to abolishing the whole, if you take off your shirt when scoring you will get booked, and rightly so. They also need to sort out the offside rule, the whole waiting until the person goes to the ball or is interfering with play is silly. Bring back the old offside, you’re either off or you aren’t.

Hmm, see I can understand to a certain extent. Richardson's celebration against Charlton/Ronaldo's against Wigan in the cup final, nothing wrong with that.
But then you compare that to Ruud's celebration (against Charlton?) where he ran in to the crowd and people got hurt.
Taking your shirt off is not a big deal though.

I think this rule is stupid. The Gary Neville incident annoyed me to be honest. What's wrong with showing some passion towards your beloved club?

I dunno I agree with the shirt rule, I don't wanna see Giggs' hairy chest after he scores for gods sake. I agree with that, it maybe petty but what next, pulling your shorts down after a winning goal?

Hehe the most outrageous thing i have seen this season was at the FA Vase final Nantwich Town captain scored and ran to the crowd, threw his shirt into the crowd and dislocated his shoulder doing it. Is it not bad enough, we ask ourselves, that he had to go off injured in the biggest game of his life, but the bastard referee booked him as he was writhing in agony on the ground! To me thats just cruel!

It's like that guy, can't remember where (maybe Mexico) scored a goal, and celebrated by jumping onto the fence that seperates the fans from the pitch and he got his wedding ring caught and his fingure fell off, the ref booked him lol!

If a player taunts the opposition fans and in the process possibly causing a fight amongst supporters, then yes, a yellow card is appropriate. When a player celebrates with his own fans and gets booked is unacceptable.

Totally agree with you, mate - what a shocking rule that is...a yellow card for taking his shirt off - almost as bad as this stupid rule which has players coming off the field who have received medical attention..only to be let back on once the ball has been kicked.
