It started off with Dowie asking Jordan if he could leave Palace to move North to be with his family. Jordan then drops a £1 million release clause in Dowie's contract. Two days later, he is approached by Charlton who offer him the managerial position. After an interview, he takes the job. Charlton being South of Crystal Palace. During the press conference a legal representative is chucked out of the Valley after trying to hand Dowie a 'Writ' which explains the legal action he is facing. The writ is eventually handed to Dowie. Jordan's argument is that Dowie 'fraudulently obtained a release from his contract' and Dowie's argument is that he quit Palace without knowledge of a move to Charlton. home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=390970&CPID=10&clid=31&lid=2&title=Jordan+issues+Dowie+writ--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think Jordan is right on this occasion. Players and managers are forever saying things like they want to be closer to family and then immediately accepting a job offer from a club which is no nearer to solving their 'personal problems'. It happened with Savage, Blackburn Rovers & Birmingham City and now it seems it has happened again.

Hmm this is a tough one. Dowie may very well have had the intentions to move North, and that's what his plan was when he left the club. But then since spoke to Charlton who changed his mind.
But if he wanted to move up North, that's what he should have done.

I think the Charlton move was in the pipelines before Dowie left, that was just an excuse. The Charlton chairman and Jordan clearly have had problems with each other for a while so if Dowie asked to be released to go to Charlton, Jordan would've said 'No, and fuck off!'...so the best way to do it was get released citing personal problems and then sign for them!

Dowie's done the dirty on Palace from what i've read and heard so far. Taking the piss that managers and footballers think nothing of honouring a contract.

Simon Jordan looks like a particularly sleazy used car salesman so Dowie...plus he's from Nord Iron leek!
