First thisThen this: "It annoys me. I don't think there is anything worse than seeing not just a foreign player but any player who has received a knock lying down on the floor to get an opponent booked - or diving when no one's been anywhere near him," said Gerrard. "If I saw a team-mate doing it I would definitely have a word. It's happened here at Liverpool a couple of times, where players have gone down too easily, and the manager has said: 'Get up, get on with it, don't be doing that. It's wrong'. "I think managers and captains, leaders and experienced players have a responsibility to grab people after a training session or a game and say 'None of that. That doesn't happen here'." Then this: Then this: Then this: "Other teams will do it against us, so why don't we? It will happen to us again, so we should." Then this: "It was never a penalty, Gerrard dived. You can't give a penalty for that. "Feher came in two-footed to win the ball and Gerrard took it to one side and then went down, there was no contact whatsoever" Well, there's one English man there who can hold his head up. Gerrard and Wright are a disgrace.

I think it’s in the nature of the players these days; they do it without realizing, although I’m not saying it’s the right thing to do.

I seen an interview of him in The Sun's pullout Super Goals and he was saying how he wouldn't wear gloves on a football pitch because he'd look like a pansy and his dad wouldn't talk to him, well he looked like a pansy when he dived and if his dad is truely no nonsense he won't be talking to his son. He tries to act like a Keano in his mannerisms, with his army cut and his reputation for being the true British player, crunching tackles and definitely doesn't dive but yet he constantly makes horrid tackles and intently tries to injure people and on several occasions dives. There is no doubting his unique talent and that he is one of the best on the planet and that is his saving grace because I tell ya now if he wasn't British and as talented he would be slaughtered for his diving!

The pressure to win makes people do silly things. but Gerrard comes out and says that in essence it shouldn't be tolerated then goes and does it....lame.

True but the tackle was reckless and if he hadnt jumped he would have to had kiss his World Cup chances bye bye. Still though it doesnt excuse him for diving. He dived and it should have been a penalty, if he wanted to avoid an injury he should have let the ref know he did it deliberately to get out of the way.
Just proves that it takes a cheat to know another.

He didnt do it to avoid injury. If he wanted to get out of the way, you jump out of the way, you dont fall over on to your belly, with your arms and legs everywhere. If on the park a guy is coming in on you with two feet, you make sure you get the HELL out of the way... you dont fall over lol.

He definitely wasn't getting out of the way on that occasion, he was just trying to take advantage of the situation.
If you look at the footage he just drops like a sack of potatoes thinking that the linesman will be fooled as there was a player making an aggressive tackle....when I saw that I almost choked on my food because it was so comical.

Exactly, there's no gray area in regards to diving and it should not be acceptable in any competition. Diving, handballs etc. is all cheating, might as well just kick the keeper in the nuts and score while he's on the floor...
