From Sky Sports: "It is I who makes decisions in terms of the quality and profile of a player, but I don't get involved in the business side at all - it is he (Abramovich) who makes the decisions to pay X or Y," Mourinho said in an interview with O Jogo. "But the best players in the world don't make the best teams, you have to work hard to be successful." Leeds United hovered over the abyss for some time after spending big in search of success, but Mourinho does not envisage Chelsea ever treading a similar path. "There are clubs whose future is affected by the investments they make, but it is different at Chelsea," he stressed. "It is a club that relies on just one person. It is the money of Abramovich that funds it." Mourinho has already made plans for next term by bringing in Michael Ballack, Andrei Shevchenko, Salomon Kalou and John Obi Mikel. The Blues were forced to shell out some £16 million to prise Nigerian youngster Mikel from the grasp of Manchester United, but he claims his transfer policy is not based on denying rival teams the cream of the crop. "I am a believer in having a squad of 24 players - two for each position, not of buying for the sake of buying or buying to prevent a player going to a rival club," he stressed. "I always try to ensure that I keep a balance with the things I do. "The only balance I have lost at Chelsea is the amount of money we spent on some transfers, but it is Abramovich's money." I wonder if anyone pays attention to his bullshit anymore?

No, the best players in the world don't always make a great team but it certainly increases your odds of winning! I think comparing the spending spree at Leeds to Chelsea is absurd.
Just admit it Jose, you rent boys found yourselves a super rich pimp. #Wa#

Chelsea's plan is to buy success BUT the success won't come next season. I see us winning the league and one of the domestic cups next season, Barcelona retaining the Champions League and Liverpool winning the other domestic cup!...

Funniest thing I’ve heard in a long time. Of course he’s buying it, otherwise would he have brought in all these star names? I think not. He should have kept quiet, but it’s Jose and we all know he’s an arrogant cock end. Just wait Jose, things will eventually turn nasty down at SB.

I honestly think that he could've fucked it. This is the first time that Jose's bought real superstar players, maybe it will disrupt the harmony in the dressing room. young exciting players like Essien, SWP, Duff, Drogba etc won't be happy warming the bench (as they will be this season) and then the rot sets in, it happened with the 'Galacticos' at Real, look at the state they're in now. I really think that we're doing it the right way, a couple more signings and we've got a real chance

He buys 2 for each position, so of course that explains having over 15 midfielders in his first team squad, over 12 of them who's main position is central midfield.

I see Chelsea being like Real Madrid in a few years...Too many superstars too little chemistry. United will prevail with our youngters (Ronaldo, Rooney, Fletcher, O'shea, Rossi)...Like when somebody told Sir Alex, "You'll never win anything with kids" and then we turn aroud and win the Treble, seriously the best moment in my football watching career (even better than when Denmark won Euro 1992) Sir Alex is the best manager in the prem, ever!
