is quirky how you play your baseball tournament between your own teams and still call it the World series lmao i love that! Also kudos for the article Yeah, even when I was a child I wondered about why it was called the World Series because I knew the world was more than the US and Canada. I enjoy baseball and have been going to Yankee stadium for about 20 years, but I am one of those baseball fans that would like to see a baseball league which promotes and relegates teams just for the sake of variety and prosperity of the game. We should rename the "world series" to "Major League Baseball Championship" and have the World Series be a competition between all baseball playing nations. I think it's inclusive and would help promote the sport for those interested in playing. How about a champions league for baseball? I sure would like to see the American champions play Mexican or Dominican league champions...dare to dream huh? Oh and just as a side note, this year we had a competition called the World Baseball Classic where everyone thought the US would beat everyone but were rudely given a dose of reality when we were almost eliminated in the first round. Japan ended up winning the competition... and yes Rewdie, it is awfully yankish of me going on a rant about baseball on a United forum but I just want some of you to know that not all Americans are as insular with their perspectives on sports....or anything else for that matter.

Well his ignorance didn't warrant death threats and my guess it'll just convince him that football fans are insane...LOL. But it'll probably be a safe bet that he'll probably be a little less abrasive next time around..

I've been fortunate that I've been able to travel and I am always eager to learn from different cultures. The worst case was a few years ago I was in London having a few pints with a Welshman and some locals and we were just talking about NYC and life here when this older American gentleman approaches us and joins in the conversation. Things were going fine but he was having a hard time understanding the various accents (including my NY "100 words a minute" fast style of talking) and he jokingly asks one of the locals "Is that English you're speaking because I can't understand you...". Talk about a yankish moment...

When I was in Paris this yankish couple were upset that the people in the store we were in didn't speak English. Despite my rusty French I spoke it and most people I dealt with were helpful when they saw I was making the effort...lol...or they got tired of hearing my bad accent..lol

lol my uncles also so yankish, he comes from Scottish who moved to America like 100 years ago, as his surname is Ferguson, so he got mad at this Italian store in America claiming they had no right to be there as they wernt Americans, but what makes me laugh is, neither is he, neither are any Americans really, all Irish, English, Scottish, French decent etc same as Canadians, statistics for actual Canadians in Canada show that there are 0% Canadians there, its all French people etc, how funny.
Yankish - noun - Americanised to the max, also believing America is the world.
