Sven Goran Eriksson is reportedly set to become the new manager of Manchester City if Thaksin Shinawatra's £120m takeover goes through. The former England coach has been approached to take over at Eastlands after Claudio Ranieri joined Juventus and Sevilla chief Juande Ramos opted to stay with the La Liga club. However, his appointment will solely depend on former Thai prime minister Shinawatra finally sealing a deal to buy City, according to the Sunday Mirror. Eriksson has been out of work since England's World Cup exit 12 months ago but has constantly stated his desire to manage in the Premiership. However, there are certain to be a number of detractors among the City faithful should he be confirmed as a candidate for the vacant post.

Heard that yesterday - lol!
F*ckin hell can you imagine all of the League 1 and 2 games at the Shitty Of Manchester Stadium! the season after next!
SGE must be worth at least his weight in 'FAG ASH' alone...
Apparently my wife fancies a go at this job - she asked me if it was as hard as Sunday League...
What do you think?

Shinawatra is bad news and if Citeh get bought up by him don't be too shocked if in an investigation into the purchase deal begins a week later. This guy is being investigated left and right so I wouldn't even consider it. Eriksson would be a step up from their previous managers so I guess that must be alluring to The Massive. I love how they think they really had a chance with Ranieri, oh and Ramos opted to stay in La Liga? Moving from a league and European title contending club to the wastelands of mediocrity that is Citeh isn't an option, it's a punishment. Ramos wouldn't go to any club that isn't contending in Europe.

I'd like to City move up the table a bit, and start to become more of our rivals.

yeh city are a dreadful team! now that they sold barton an distin( arguably their best 2 players of the last 3 years) it looks like its only gonna get worse unless they get some dough from this takeover! I watched city live twice this season and they were crap both times! herd that souness is involved haha! dont let that man anywer near a football club again!!!
Plus if sven comes in to city then they will be relegated! i honestly think that he is the worst football manager on the planet.

There aren't going to be many worse sides than them next season. Usually you could guarantee Sunderland were going to be the worst team, but that just isnt the case these days ;D

If someone rich does come in and buy City, and they get a decent manager they could do quite well. Eriksson doesn't fill the "decent manager" role for me though, so I'd like to see him go there.

I doubt there's going to be someone who'll buy the club and spend loads of money on rebuilding the team quickly. Barton was their best player and he's now gone so unless the new owner is going to spend money like Abramovich I don't see them making strides up the table anytime soon.
