Ronaldo is looking to finish as top scorer at this summer's World Cup and, in the process, eclipse Gerd Muller's all-time scoring record in the competition.
The Brazilian star endured a difficult season for his club Real Madrid and, despite managing 15 league goals, came in for criticism from his own fans.
Despite that, the 29-year-old remains one of the most feared frontmen in world football and was Golden Boot at the last World Cup finals in Japan and South Korea with eight goals.
That haul took him to 12 overall, leaving him just two short of Muller's record mark.
He now hopes to surpass the German this summer, helping Brazil to glory on the way.
"I want to be the top scorer in the World Cup and it would be nice to pass the all-time record," he stated.
"I hope it will happen, but it isn't my main goal, which is to win the World Cup. If I score more than three goals, I'll be happy.
"We don't worry ourselves with anything else, we only think about ourselves and the team.
"I have not played too much for Real Madrid but I will be ready. I would like the fans at the Bernabeu to change their attitude towards me. I'm planning to stay, as I'm happy in Madrid and want to be successful there." ----------------------------------------------------------------
Chubby wreck has a positive mental attitude, bless. Think he’ll be leading scorer?

I very much doubt it, will he even start? There are younger better Brazilian strikers with greater scoring records.

Hmm, apparently Adriano isn't as good a striker as he's made out to be, easy to mark and take out of a game by a good defence, he always goes to the left on the same foot and is crap with his right. Was told this by an Italian friend who supports Inter and has seen him most of the season. A lot of Inter fans don't think particularly highly of him.

We have to remember Brazil have every likelihood to make it to the final, giving Ronaldo a lot more opportunities to play. I reckon he could equal the record, sure.

I reckon he'l smash the record. The man is fantastic! Had a poor season but at only 29 you definatly cant write him off.
Id have him in my team any day. I'll never forget when he destroyed us at Old Trafford and was later substituted, we applauded him more than his own fans!
Class.

Klose for Germany could be worth a flutter there, check out Germany's group, easy goals if they manage to get going.. RVN too, 16-1!Rooeny could be worth a bet at 25-1 too, if he makes the first game as is reported... wouldn't count him out.

If Ruud did leave (which I hope he doesnt) id love us to go for Ronaldo. I cant see him being at Madrid after the World Cup. No chance!

Imagine if you place a bet on rooney, he turns out to be fit for the starting game.. wouldn't rule him out for top scorer. Is Kuryani (sp?) included in the German squad fella?

I remember Pallys freekick against Blackaburn last game of the season too, the only player not to score for United that season and he drilled it
