David Beckham has revealed that Frank Lampard will continue with his penalty duties for England, despite missing against Hungary.
The Chelsea midfielder saw Gabor Kiraly save his spot-kick during the first half of England's 3-1 victory at Old Trafford.
Beckham has explained that Lampard will remain the number one penalty taker and he also paid tribute to team-mate Steven Gerrard, who headed the opener from an excellent cross by the captain.
"Of course Frank's the penalty taker and I've missed one or two in the past and carried on taking them," Beckham told Sky Sports.
"Frank's a great penalty taker and hardly misses.
"Unfortunately tonight [he did], but he'll definitely stay penalty taker.

Hello, David? I know you’re captain, you’ve got to keep up confidence etc, and a fine job you’re doing, but Lampard is not a great penalty taker, we the fans know that, so should you. He takes them half heartedly with no conviction what so ever.

His penalty last night was bad, but generally, I think he does a good job. Becks missed too many and seemed to bottle it a bit. I cant think of anyone I'd rather take them Lampard really.

it was a good save by Kiraly. Was it becks that resigned from the duty or did Sven make the descision?

Sven and decision?....get real!...Beckham resigned from taking them and I really hope we don't have to go through another penalty shootout in the World Cup, I'd probably die!...
Beckham in this case is just doing a captain's job, coming out and sticking up for his players and good on him. People always criticise his captaincy but he is very quick to jump to his players' defence. And, on the subject Lampard should continue, he's normally a very good penalty kick taker, even when he does need to hit it twice lol!
