Wayne Rooney has been passed fit to play for England against Trinidad & Tobago by independent medical advisors Angus Wallace and Chris Moran, but it is still not clear if he will figure in Thursday's clash in Nuremberg.
Rooney fractured his metatarsal in April, but has made a swift recovery and is looking to play his part in Germany.
Manchester United's medical team have insisted Rooney will not be fit to play any part in the group games, but The Three Lions called in Wallace and Moran to run the rule over the key forward.
The pair have given the green light for Rooney to play and Sven Goran Eriksson will now have to mull over whether to let him off the leash against the Caribbean nation.
It is believed that some FA members are not keen on Rooney playing for fear of aggravating the injury and incurring the wrath of Manchester United.
Eriksson, though, wants to hone Rooney's match sharpness ahead of the knockout stages and could well hand him a run out on Thursday.
Even if Eriksson opts to keep Rooney's powder dry, he seems certain to field the youngster against Sweden in the final Group B game. --------------------------------
Well some people won’t like the news, some will, but not everyone can be pleased. Now all’s we need to know, is will Sven play him? Be on it your head Sven!

Well they are: www.manutd.com/news/fullstory.sps?iNewsid=338699&itype=466&icategoryid=0 United have responded to the news that Wayne Rooney has been passed fit to play for England. In a statement, the club said: "The Football Association has kept Manchester United informed of the medical progress of Wayne Rooney since he rejoined the England squad last week. "As a player on international duty, Wayne, like the rest of the squad, is in the care of the FA's medical staff. The Club has been assured by the FA that it has decided Wayne's fitness on the basis of medical evidence it has received and that such a decision was made with Wayne's welfare as a key consideration. "We wish Wayne and the England squad the very best in what we hope will be a successful bid to win the World Cup."
