This is how I would play next game:
Robinson
Ferdinand - Terry - A.Cole
Carrick
Lennon - Beckham - Gerrard/Lampard - J.Cole
Rooney - Owen
Lampard & Gerrard have shown they cannot play together, either of them alongside Beckham will do just the trick. Carragher doesn't provide enough of an attacking threat like Neville so until he returns switch to 3 an drop Lennon on the right pushing Beckham inside. Crouch has proved his worth, missed 3 sitters.

Sven's subs win the game for England
FULL TIME: England recorded a 2-0 victory against a very, steely T&T side. This time though, England deserved the victory unlike versus Paraguay although it took almost 88minutes for us to break them down. Sven Goran Eriksson decision to release Rooney & Lennon in place of Carragher and Owen paid off, and he needs to be given credit for that. The England boss went to an attacking 3-5-2 with Beckham pushed more central and Lennon wide. Trinidad & Tobago need to be given credit for the way they battled through the game and made England nervous and thinking the worse. Yorke was immense in that holding midfield role and kept out Lampard & Gerrard for most of the game. England have qualified and this victory will give them a boost in morale much more than had we rolled them over 5-0.
MAN OF THE MATCH: BECKHAM (ENG) I was going to say Lennon, but I must say Beckham. His ability to claw England into a game and get something out of nothing proved invaluable again. A true captains performance and another great assist from the former-Red.
MOAN OF THE MATCH: GERRARD & LAMPARD. They have shown their incapabilities to play together and it needs to be addressed. Lennon impressed me when England switched to a 3-5-2 and this is how we should line up without Neville. Carragher can not cover for Nev, in defending yes but we missed Nev sorely today when attacking. That is why Lennon's introduction brought Beckham into the game more and England looked a threat:
Robinson
Ferdinand - Terry - A.Cole
Carrick Lennon - Beckham - Gerrard - J.Cole
Rooney - Owen
SCORE: England 2-0 T&T

why the fuck is he taking OWEN and not CROUCH off?.... I said the exact same thing, if Crouch hadn't have scored he'd be the worst player on'th pitch. Gerard over Lampard at the moment I think.

Yes definitely Gerrard. Lampard fucks his game up, I feel if he is dropped then Gerrard will show more of the form he has for Liverpool. Why not try it next game?...we've qualified so we've got one last chance to do so.
I feel Owen would have scored had he stayed on and that snub will prove a blow to our best striker in terms of goalscoring. Rooney is our best player but not much of a goalscorer all the time...whereas Owen is.

3 points are 3 points but the majority of the match it seemed like T&T were going to hold on to the draw. England are going to have to step it up for the next round. We'll have a better sense of what Sweden will offer after their match against Paraguay.

Robinson - 7 - Fumbled once and was luckily saved by JT, but comfortable in general.
Carragher - 6 - Done what he had to do in defence, but cannot replace Nev's attacking threat.
Ferdinand - 7 - Comfortable as always
Terry - 7 - Saved England in the first half, he and Rio are vital for England.
A.Cole - 6 - Caught out once or twice in the 2nd half.
BECKHAM - 9 - STAR MAN - Always a danger with his accuracy although he faded a little at the end of the first half he was excellent when it mattered and pulled his side through the game.
Gerrard - 7 - Despite the goal was quiet
Lampard - 5 - Missed a few sitters, needs to sort his partnership with Gerrard out.
J.Cole - 6 - Danger on the ball at occasions but quiet for most.
Crouch - 6 - Apart from the late goal was woeful.
Owen - 7 - I felt he would score until taken off, looked livelier and more team work than usual.
SUBS:
Rooney - 7 - Changed the game when brought on.
Lennon - 8 - Excellent partnership with Beckham when he came on and along with Rooney swung the game in England's favour.
Downing - 6 - Not enough time to make an effect but was ok.
SVEN GORAN ERIKKSON - 8 - Needs to sort out Lampard & Gerrard, but his decision to bring Lennon & Rooney in and pushing Beckham deeper and more central changed the game.

Fuckin embarrassing. I cheered when Trinidad scored, totally unconsciously. That goal was the most inspired move of the game.
Thank god for Terry's defensive work, and Beckhams balls in to the box. Without them, based on this performance, we're totally screwed. Crouch was shocking. That chance in the first half which he could have put his foot on and side footed in, he tried to volley and fucked it up. That's the problem with England, they all want to be superstars. Instead of doing things simply, they're all over the top. At least Lampard had a few chances on goal, but he was poor. Gerrard's goal was f****** amazing, but he was s*** today. Joe Cole was decent. Lennon worked hard, and I think that's a good option for future games if things arent going our way. Owen, oh god, dont get me started. He's just invisable.
Crouch showed what he was made of today though. Considering he's a foot taller than pretty much everyone else on the pitch, he'd have no excuse not to just get his head in the way of that perfect ball. Rooney didnt really do anything, which is fair do's...but thank god he's getting fit, because that England performance was utterly disgraceful. Play like that against a GOOD team, and we'll get completely battered.
