ENGLAND COULD FACE GERMANY IN THE LAST 16
FULL TIME: Ecuador booked their place and Germany's place in the last 16 with an easy victory over today's opponents Costa Rica. They sit top of the group and a draw against Germany would mean they finish top of the group and surely seal a England vs. Germany, last 16 tie.
MAN OF THE MATCH: DELGADO (ECU) Constant threat to the Costa Rican defence. Pace, power and thoroughly deserved his goal.
MOAN OF THE MATCH: COSTA RICA, they gave up too easily. Never battled for 50/50 and never acted like they wanted to be there
SCORE: ECUADOR 3-0 COSTA RICA

Rooney is on the bench and can be called upon if needed. Jamie Carragher starts in place of Gary Neville, who's injury has not been announced long-term...thank God! I'll give you the team news when it's out.
Today's live text commentary will only be team news before, half time and full time because this game is getting my full attention lol!

ECUADOR!! ECUADOR!! ECUADOR!! HALA ECUADOR!! AHORA A DERROTAR A ALEMANIA!!!
I'm absolutely elated that they're through to the next round and earned their spot convincingly. 5 goals and two clean sheets in WC competition is a pretty good achievement. Now they get to test themselves against Germany against whom I think they'll have a good showing. So much for the pundits who said Ecuador can only win in high altitudes...lol
;D

LOL...I heard that too...was thinking...HUH?! well based on their record in the qualifiers it made sense as they had a horrid away record, but they've completely turned it around and have come out strong. Though Germany won't be easy I think they'll do well if they come out as aggressively as they did this match; Germany conceded two to CR and only beat Poland 1-0 so I'm confident they'll give Germany a tough time.

Yeah a draw will be enough for them to finish top, they're very capable of it...I expect them though to come out all guns blazing because they don't look like a side ready to defend a 0-0

Come out strong and pressure the Germans for the early goal. I want Ecuador to win but think the Germans will edge them out...either way we're in! ;D

England vs. Trinidad & Tobago - KO 5pm (BST)
My Prediction: 3-0
Teams:
England
01 P Robinson
15 J Carragher 06 J Terry 05 R Ferdinand 03 A Cole
07 D Beckham 08 F Lampard 04 S Gerrard 11 J Cole
10 M Owen 21 P Crouch
Trinidad & Tobago
01 S Hislop
11 C Edwards 05 B Sancho 06 D Lawrence 08 C Gray
07 C Birchall 09 A Whitley 19 D Yorke 18 D Theobald 15 K Jones
14 S John ----------------------------------------------- Live On ITV1 ----------------------------------------------- I think England will win comfortably 3-0 although they have to be wary of T&T because this is the game of their lives and most of their players play in England. The only changes are Avery John (suspended) replaced by Kenwin Jones and Jamie Carragher on for Gary Neville (injury). This game has got that little bit more excitement because Wayne Rooney should play some part in the second half.
I'll be back at half time with my half time report, laters! If you can't watch the game then follow it on here newsimg.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2006/5057808.stm

England looking comfortable but still goalless
HALF TIME: Despite Stern John's shot from a Paul Robinson fumble which was cleared superbly off the line by John Terry, England have looked comfortable and should be atleast 2-0 up. Peter Crouch missed the best chance of the half, when he was put through by a superb Beckham cross, he could of took another touch and placed it but RoboCrouch decided to try the spectacular and skew his shot miles wide. Positive news for England is that Owen has looked livelier and is picking up all the loose balls wide, and even set Lampard up for a volley 10 yards out which should have been buried. At half time it's 0-0 and England may need the White Pelé to settle this.
SCORE: England 0-0 T&T

We look like drawing this game, Crouch isn't given them any options other than long balls and when he did get a chance he bottled it. :S

Blooming long ball! Getting blooming sick of it! We've got possibly the strongest midfield in the whole tournament so why we need to bang up long fecking ball after long ball I don't know. So bloody frustrating. Just pass it on the bloody ground for crying out loud! AAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!
We need a 'tearing hair out' smiley!

I know long balls are taking the piss but I saw Sven signalling to them to pass it on the ground so it's clearly not him.
I think that's because of Crouch's presence, when Rooney is there I feel he allows quick, short passes and brings Gerrard & Lampard into the game more than Crouch!
Back to the footy!
