I'm sure that SAF wanting England to lose has now been echoed by Roeder and Shepherd at Newcastle but it's too late for them. Shepherd sounded really sour but he did have a point. Newcastle have had 30 minutes this year from Owen. They got him nearly fit, the guy played like a prat for about 2 hours and now he's out for 6 months. If I'd paid £17 mill, I'd not be best pleased. Now I suppose that the injury occured because it was an accident. But suppose it was because a finely tuned athlete playing in allegedly the best comp in the world tried too hard and wasn't really 100% fit...................Sounds familiar. The squad includes too many players who haven't played much if at all in the last couple of months. Owen, Cole, Campbell - although I don't suppose it matters with that cart horse - Rooney of course, and Walcott can hardly be "match" fit cos' he's never played any matches. Well there's 5 out of 23 who must be iffy. I just hope Roo doesn't do an Owen

It's a real shame, and pretty ridiculous. But if their players want to go to the World Cup, there's not a lot their clubs can do about it really. It's not as if the FA have forced the likes of Rooney, Cole, Owen etc. to go.

Yeah but its the FA doctors who pass the players fit to play. I'm sure if it was up to the club doctors then Owen and Rooney and possibly Cole would not have even been at World Cup, so I think Newcastle have the right to claim money from the FA.

If Newcastle's doctors didn't deem Owen fit and the fa doctors did then I think Newcastle have got a good claim for compensation.
